Red Wings coach Mike Babcock said Glendening was reassigned to the Griffins on Sunday so that he could play in the AHL outdoor game.

“I wasn’t sure he was going to be able to play in this game (Winter Classic) for us,†Babcock said. “I thought it was unfair if he didn’t play (in either outdoor game).â€
Now conveniently he's starting the NHL game.
