I was wondering if you guys know how to estimate the Time on Ice of a player ? I know that there's a study out there but I'm having difficulties to understand the way they proceed. Is there a formula already built ?

Thank you

My assumption is that the thread starter is looking for the estimate used in years for which TOI is not published.

Iain Fyffe created the method most commonly used today; there's a useful thread about it here:
https://hfboards.mandatory.com/threads/principles-of-estimating-ice-time.1731329/

Basically, the method was created by fitting a model to the known data, and then assuming that the same relationships would hold in prior periods (that second part is a bit controversial - since it's different to extrapolate than to interpolate - and gets talked about a bit in the thread).

Thanks for your answers guys. I was looking for a formula that would help calculating/estimating TOI in the QMJHL. As I look on their Stats page, I can't find the TOI of players.
