There’s no reason Toffoli costs that much. He’s good but he’s not top ten pick and top prospect good. Tatar was referenced as a comparable and he certainly didn’t return close to that.

... he’s got one more year than Toffoli at, what, an extra 650k? And Tatar is 27, not much of a gap. He’s a good comparable.

I don't think the Kings and Oilers are good trading partners. The only reason the Kings would trade Toffoli is if they are getting an upgraded forward that not only can score goals like Toffoli, but also is dynamic enough to drive play. Obviously to get a player like that we would have to add, because Toffoli for that X player wouldn't make sense to the other team. For example, if there was a team in need to upgrade their defense, but didn't want to do a simple Hall for Larrson type swap, the Kings could do Toffoli + defenseman (Ladue, or Martinez, or Muzzin etc.), for that elite player of Hall caliber.

The only elite players on Edmonton are McDavid and Drai, and neither are touchable. So I don't see this kind of deal going down.

To me this is bad for LA. But I’m not a fan of Benning.
