I said I’d take him back in a heartbeat for $7M, so I’m quite pleased with this deal!

He would’ve gotten 8+ on the market for sure, unless he had a down year this season. Maybe even $9M.

This was about the max the Avs could pay him and still build out depth on the roster. Obviously he likes playing in Colorado and wasn’t ready to part ways with his BFF Cale Makar quite yet.
