Dorion compromised on term and money from his 8M x 8YR offer, which was already an overpayment, so I would say holding out worked out pretty well for Tkachuk.

Dorion was willing to go 8M for 5 years according to @benjiv1 who is plugged in so both sides comprised.

No I'm fully willing to give Dorion credit for getting this done. It's more about spending to the cap in a few years when the rest of the kids come into their own. Melnyk's gonna have to put his money where his mouth is.

But getting all of Chabot, Bath and Brady locked in is a huge step in the right direction.
