We've had threads about songs with various unifying words/themes - here's one. Songs that share a title with the album they're on.

The Killers' new album is pretty good and they're fond of title tracks:

Based on a quick review of my library, focusing on rock, progressive rock, and heavy metal:
  1. AC/DC - "Highway to Hell"
  2. AC/DC - "Back in Black"
  3. Bathory - "Blood Fire Death"
  4. Black Sabbath - "Paranoid"
  5. Black Sabbath - "Sabbath Bloody Sabbath"
  6. Blaze Bayley - "Silicon Messiah"
  7. Caravan - "In The Land of Grey and Pink"
  8. Caravan - "Waterloo Lily"
  9. The Clash - "London Calling"
  10. Death From Above 1979 - "You're A Woman, I'm A Machine"
  11. The Doors - "L.A. Woman"
  12. Emerson, Lake & Palmer - "Tarkus"
  13. Focus - "Hamburger Concerto"
  14. Iron Maiden - "Killers"
  15. Iron Maiden - "The Number of the Beast"
  16. Iron Maiden - "Powerslave"
  17. Iron Maiden - "Seventh Son of a Seventh Son"
  18. Iron Maiden - "The Book of Souls"
  19. Jimi Hendrix Experience - "Are You Experienced?"
  20. Joe Satriani - "Surfing with the Alien"
  21. Judas Priest - "Killing Machine" (the album was later re-titled "Hell Bent for Leather" - either qualifies)
  22. Judas Priest - "Screaming for Vengeance"
  23. Judas Priest - "Painkiller"
  24. King Crimson - "Larks' Tongues in Aspic" (does this count? the album stars with Part I and ends with Part II)
  25. King Crimson - "Red"
  26. King Crimson - "Discipline"
  27. Motorhead - "Overkill" (though the live version is much better)
  28. Motorhead - "Bomber"
  29. Pantera - "Cowboys from Hell"
  30. Pink Floyd - "Wish You Were Here"
  31. Queensryche - "Operation: Mindrime"
  32. Rush - "2112"
  33. Slayer - "Hell Awaits"
  34. Slayer - "South of Heaven"
  35. Slayer - "Seasons in the Abyss"
  36. The Stooges - "Fun House"
  37. Thin Lizzy - "Jailbreak"
  38. The Who - "Quadrophenia"
  39. Yes - "Close to the Edge"
I'm limiting this to exact matches only. So something like "Morning Glory", the quasi-title track from the Oasis album "(What's the Story) Morning Glory?", doesn't count.

There's way too many for this to be an interesting topic, but I'm grateful for another excuse to post this one:

A few notable ones off the top of my head:

Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band - The Beatles
Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
London Calling - The Clash
Sounds of Silence - Simon and Garfunkel; The song title on the album is actually "Sound" not "Sounds" but close enough...
Goodbye Yellow Brick Road - Elton John

I was being really strict and excluded this from my list. If it qualifies, it would be near the top of my list (even though it looks out of place next to Slayer, Bathory, Sabbath, etc).

Interesting tidbit- it was originally released as "The Sounds of Silence" on a different album. The producer then dubbed in additional instrumentation without the knowlege of Simon or Garfunkel and included it on the album "The Sounds of Silence".

I wonder how many of these exist - a title track from one album appearing on another. ("Houses of the Holy" was the band's 5th record, but it appeared on "Physical Grafitti", their sixth).

Celtic Frost's "Morbid Tales" did not appear on the original 1984 release of the Morbid Tales EP (the Noise Records vinyl), although it did appear on the cassette released by Metal Blade Records in the USA that same year. "Morbid Tales" was first available in Europe (Celtic Frost's home) on the 1985 Emperor's Return EP (of course ignoring imports).

Demolition Hammer's "Skull Fracturing Nightmare" did not appear on the Skull Fracturing Nightmare demo, but would appear on the 1992 LP Epidemic of Violence.

Helloween's "Keeper of the Seven Keys" does not appear on Keeper of the Seven Keys, Part I, but that might be cheating (it does appear on Part II).

Vader's "De Profundis" first appeared on the Sothis EP, released more than a year prior to De Profundis, although its just an instrumental.

Out of some 275+ artists in my collection, those are the only examples I could find.
