When I saw Heyman tweet he had signed in DET, I figured it was some cheap contract.

Just insane that a very ho hum SP gets 8 M nowadays and 2 years.

Pelfrey's last season with the Twins was not too bad (2.0 fWAR). If he is indeed signed to an 2y/16m-deal, it would be very close to what fangraphs.com users estimated. As a groundball pitcher, Pelfrey might profit a bit from Kinsler's and Iglesias' defense (though he better not hope for much help from 3B...).

The Tigers will have enough innings to eat for a SP veteran, since Sanchez regularly misses several games and Norris never pitched through a whole MLB season before. Nevertheless, that was not the signing I was hoping for after Ilitch said that he would not mind the luxury tax and with many free agents still available. The second year makes it much worse.
