UNCONFIRMED: Contract based on initial report. Once the details have been confirmed the contract will be updated

No reported signing bonuses or trade protection yet. I would guess that's the actual contract because they have specific numbers. The 4M year is the prospective lockout year.
This is an amazing contract. It shows that the young core have bought in. Cap hit percentage wise, it's lower than comparable top pairing D coming off of their ELC. I'm skeptical about no bonuses or trade protection, because that's just ridiculousness.
Something tells me Chabot wanted to be here, because that's what this contract looks like. Still, this is Dorion's best move as GM. He's set this team up with a franchise defender at what will be an amazing cap hit for almost the entirety of the next decade.
If the above contract structure is accurate, it also sets a precedent internally. If our best player isn't getting signing bonuses, it then becomes difficult for other players to justify that position. It doesn't mean Tkachuk won't go hard next year trying to get every dollar he can get, but it certainly will be easier to sign Tkachuk to an 8x8 type deal when there's a culture internally of the young core buying in.
