Carter Ashton, RW, Lethbridge (WHL), 6'3, 205, (30-20-50) - Big forward who reached the 30-goal plateau on a 7th-seeded Hurricanes squad. He is relied on to supply primary and secondary scoring with an aggressive style. 2nd-line winger

Tyson Barrie, D, Kelowna (WHL), 5'9, 165 (12-40-52) - Very small offensive defenseman, who has a nose for the net and great hands, although not great defensively, does good in the corners and an exceptionally fast skater, also a good power play defenseman. 2nd-pair offensive defenseman

Casey Cizikas, C, Mississauga (OHL), 5'11, 187 (16-20-36) - Tough, aggressive center who can setup plays and score as well. Not a fantastic skater but has good balance and good hands. 3rd-line energy center

David Gilbert, C, Quebec (QMJHL), 6'1, 185 (11-32-43) - Fast skater with good hands and a good shot, more likely a playmaker than a scorer. Not great in the corners and is defense bait. But has potential to score and setup plays. 2nd-line center

Brodie Melnychuk, D, Brandon (WHL), 6'3, 195 (3-13-16) - Big defensive defenseman, not great offensive wise, but a good hitter and usually shuts down the offensive rush. Not afraid to drop the gloves as well. 2nd/3rd pair defensive d-man

Henrik Eriksson, RW, Djurgarden (Elitserien), 5'11, 185 (3-5-8) - Very fast, dynamic forward. Good in corners, and good hands as well. Accuracy is a question, but can be developed and worked on. 3rd-line fast winger

Tyler Johnson, C, Spokane (WHL), 5'9, 165, (26-35-51) - Scoring winger on an offensively juiced Spokane Chiefs squad. Has a good shot and is a good skater, passed on in last years draft, but has proven that he can star in the NHL. 2nd-line scoring center.

Mark Guggenberger, G, Kelowna (WHL), 6'2, 210 (29-14-1) - Fast goaltender with good reaction, and good reflex. Putting up good numbers with his new club in Kelowna and is having a great playoff run. 2nd/3rd goaltender.

I believe I made reasonable selections toward the Vancouver Canucks team, in the actual NHL Entry Draft, I hope they draft similiar!

Coetzee was assigned to Calgary in the 4th round I do believe so, Gronvaldt is impressive though, Danish defenseman striving with the Rangers, good pick to end the draft.

1. Oliver Ekman-Larsson-Oliver possesses all of the raw tools that he needs to become a star defenseman. All he has to do is fill out his frame. Some rank him as a top 10 and maybe even a top 5 pick. I think he was a steal at the point I was drafting.

2. Edward Pasquale-He is the goalie prospect that the Flyers have been looking for. He has the potential to be a solid #1 goalie in the NHL with his decent size and good mobility.

5th. Patrick Cehlin-Patrick is a hard working Swedish player from Djurgardens. He is willing to work in the corners and is an all-around gritty player, 3rd line grinder.

6th. Guillaume Goulet-He has put up some very impressive numbers in the QMJHL this year. He has a quick wrist shot and is a very good goal scorer.

6th. Lukas Flueler-He is a bit of a wild card. He struggled when he came to the OHL for the Ottawa 67s, but has rebounded quite nicely in the Swiss league. He has good natural size and quickness, but he is going to need a good bit of time.

7th. Andrew Agozzino-Andrew is undersized, but as we have seen smaller players can have success in the new NHL. He has put up impressive numbers in the OHL this season, and has good offensive skills.

7th. Cab Morris-He has some impressive stats playing for Hotchkiss in Conneticut. He hasn't decided where he is going to play next year, but he seems to have some decent talent.

I picked four scoring forwards, two of whom I feel are high-probability top 6 forwards (Schenn and O'Reilly) and two of have demonstrated potential (Howse and Tochkin. I picked three grinding forwards (Callahan, Walker, Clifford) who ought to become the tough, solid 4th liners Los Angeles never really has. I picked four defensemen, two of whom have potential due to their skills (Savard and Orlov) and two of whom have potential due to their physical gifts (Svedberg and Ponich, 6'9 and 6'7 respectively). I picked one goalie, Joni Ortio, who I think has great potential which he'll have plenty of time to find in the Los Angeles organization given Quick, Ersberg, and Bernier all ahead of him

Coming in I wanted to add further depth to the org. at center, defense and wing. Among wingers I wanted size and the potential to be comfortable in a depth role as somewhat of a mucker.

In retrospect I probably would have held off on moving up to grab Holland but he was falling further than I thought he would and felt there was decent value to be had there. My primary target at 26th overall ended up being selected by then anyway so it's no big deal. Bennett & Wey seem to be good puck possession defensemen but are also good in their own end and will be groomed at a couple of strong NCAA programs. Lindstrom & Archibald bring size and much needed net presence. D'Amigo was the BPA at that pick in my estimation. After the U18s, I can't see him going nearly that late.
