Solid top pair dman. Not a elite one by any means, but a minute muncher who plays a simple but effective game in all situations.

2021 1st
2022 2nd
Kerfoot
Lilejgren
Dermott
Robertson

What could this buy us?
Teams generally don't trade top pairing Dmen for "quantity" like this. Maybe you'd get an top-pairing LHD with only a year or two to UFA.

2021 1st ---- a late 1st a year away
2022 2nd --- a late 2nd two years away
Kerfoot ----- a 35 point 3C who isn't defensively strong or a PKer
Liljegren ---- bottom 4 RHD prospect
Dermott ---- bottom 4 LHD
Robertson ---- middle 6 forward prospect

I mean those are valuable pieces but there is no headliner there.

what team would deal their top pairing dman for a collection of pieces?
I feel like the majority of trades are Quantity for quality. Usually a team looking to rebuild or retool so deals a player for a collection of future assets. Definitely more common than the 1 for 1 'hockey trade' people are so hard for on this forum.

Dont see the leafs moving the majoirty of their cheap ELC talent and any future ELC via picks either.

The Flyers have Provo and Nisk on our top pairing and Sanheim and Myers on our 2and pairing and the only one I'd trade of those 4 for your package is Nisk and he's old.

None of the players you've included are any kind of a difference maker and we are loaded with plenty of young talented players and prospects that the players and picks you've listed make us any better at all. We'd be a much worse team if we traded one of Provo, Sanheim or Myers for your package

Teams almost exclusively trade top pairing D for quantity packages you mean. Feel free to bring up any example of a top pair D getting traded for a "quality" package that isn't mostly made of late 1sts and 2nds. Subban (the first time) and Jones are really the only trades that qualify in the cap era.

Teams don’t like trading top-pairing defenceman, but I think you could land a really good aging defenceman for that package.

That package is 2x or more valuable than what Hamilton (the first time), Trouba, or McDonagh returned. Depending on how you want to weigh the conditional picks, it's more than Karlsson returned.

We're talking about a conservative value of 2x 1st and 4x 2nd. That would be the biggest return since Pronger.

The package has a value of like 4 later 1st round picks. It would return a really good player if the fit was just right.

Dont see the leafs gutting their future ELCs though. Not a good idea for a cap strapped team

Disregarding the package I'll just say nic Robertson should be a top 5 untouchable asset for the leafs. He should not be available full stop. His shot is as good as matthews and he has good vision. Develop him and see what he becomes.

If he busts so be it but dont let some other organization get a chance at getting a potentially elite sniping LW. Keep him and see what he becomes. Him and sandin are teo prospect with high ceilings that should not be available for trade.

The cup window is now buddy. Robertson won't be an impact player for another few seasons.
