Take away the single point for losing the game AND have no game end in a tie.

That will ensure that both teams play for the win.

Right now the philosophy is don’t lose the single point.

So that’s why I end up watching Master Chef or something by the time the 2nd period rolls around.

Re-introduce the 1-16 playoff seeds, that would add an element of spice to the game.

That existed for a grand total of two (2) years and only because the schedule was perfectly balanced.

What I have long advocated for, though, is to seed the conferences a la the prior version [division winners 1-3, next 5 go in] but then cross-pair for the playoffs like this:

W1 vs. E8
E4 vs. W5
W3 vs. E6
E2 vs. W7
W2 vs. E7
E3 vs. W6
W4 vs. E5
E1 vs. W8
