He's had a rough go with injuries, etc. since that first season.

Really happy Merrill has stepped in and played well though.

I hope he can keep it up. Him and Santini at a minimum sustaining their current level of play would be huge for the defense.

Cammalleri was the worst tonight, DSP next to worst

Rest ranged from adequate to good, most being good I'd say

Especially for being the 2nd leg of a back to back

That saddledome drought was unreal

To a degree it's really the old Merrill, since he was actually decent looking his first season with Pete but that guy dissapeared since then.

This is true. Rookie Merrill was quite good. I'm glad that he seems to have regained that level of play.

Quite a few of our recent call ups need to be kept in the line up to see how they can perform over time. They are bringing the speed and effort so far.

Quincey was pretty horrible too

Also, I know we don't put a ton of stock in +/-, particularly over small sample sizes, but I will not complain at all about Santini at +7 through 7 games this season. He's looked very good.

He hasn't been on for a single goal against in 7 games I think.

Steve and Dano say the defense has been good since the Toronto game last week

But has it really?

42 shots against in the first Edmonton game.

Stollery is a career minor league player, though he's played admirably these last two games.

I'd keep him up as the 7th guy when Greene is healthy or scratch Quincey for him, since they've scratched Quincey before already.

Helgeson should never play here in the NHL for us again.
