Lehkonen will be the Habs best winger by the spring.

The Pens produce several Lehkonen's a year. So do all contenders. That's what true contenders do. Our drafting is trash. And so is our pro scouts. Our trading has been awful as well. We need a COMPLETE cleansing with our team. Maybe this year will open eyes.

Well, literally every expert has picked the Habs as a playoff team, and a lot of them have them in the 5-8 range overall in the entire league. But I'm sure 5 meaningless preseason games are a better judge of how this team will do this year.

Maybe playing a bunch of Lehkonens with two of the best centers in the league helps.

We are a bubble playoff team if everything goes right because we are certainly not better than we were last year IMO. Plus, chances are we won't have a historic start to our season either.

Colorado was 6-and-0 in the preseason last season. Looked incredible. Went on to the worst regular season in recent history. Because preseason results always dictate how well a team does in the regular season.

Is $8.4 million in cap doing anything? Are we going to trade for 8-9 bottom 6 forwards/bottom pair dmen with that space? Because that's the trend Bergevin and his brass have leaned towards. "Trades are hard" -Marc Bergevin.

Trying to be positive:

- A full year with Julien should improve the team

- Alzner may have a big impact as a shutdown shot blocking D and help Petry's consistency

- Weber 2nd year may take an even better leadership / mentor role

- Drouin could energize the offense. Imagine if he gets Pacioretty to start skating again like in the old days, generating his own chances instead of just being a shooter?

- Hemsky and Hudon may help Plekanec discover his offense again.

- While Hemsky is past his best days, that gives us three forwards who can dangle: Hemsky, Drouin, Galch.

- Maybe Hudon puts in a solid season and becomes this year's Lekhonen

- Maybe Lekhonen's 2nd season allows him to progress even more

- Spreading the offense onto 3 scoring lines that are defensively responsible may help us win games

- The departure of Beaulieu may help the party clique be more sober and thus perform better in games

- Maybe Gallagher broken hand injuries finally healed and he has a good year

- The more time passes the pain and drama of the PK trade becomes less present

is dahlin generational? How about that russian dude?

Swedes say he is the best dman they've seen in years. If all goes right, Dahlin may be a bigger Karlsson. He's not generational like a McDavid, but he may be in the same tier as a Eichel, Laine or Matthews. And Andrei Svechnikov looks like a future first line sniper.

QFT. Part of me hopes the fans get what they want and we suck for 5+ years. These boards for the most part have just become a big whine fest. Seconds after we selected our first round pick this year, one of the first posts is" this guy sucks" LOL. Every second post is "FANX BERGEVIN!"

If you want to get hyped about your team and feel good that you cheer for the Habs make sure to come to Hf Boards Montreal Canadiens sub so we can show you how mistaken you are!

Positive:

- We have an elite coach. If everything falls into place we'll see a well structured team that's very hard to play against. We'll compete for the division title once again.

Negative:

- We're not a true contender, i.e. we're not in the 1st echelone of NHL teams that nobody would be surprised if they'd win a cup. An early playoffs exit is likely. But we have SOME chance of competing as a darkhorse candidate.
