Don't say anything at all
The Winter Classic for 2019 has been set as you all know. It will feature teams that have already been in multiple Winter Classics.

Starting in 2020, the Winter Classic should start featuring different teams, in particular teams that haven't been in it yet.

2020: Winnipeg at Minnesota, TCF Bank Stadium (Wild's 20th Anniversary Season)
2021: Philadelphia at New Jersey, MetLife Stadium
2022: Pittsburgh at Columbus, Ohio Stadium (80th Anniversary of OSU's first CFB national title)
2023: Tampa Bay at Boston, Gillette Stadium (25th Anniversary of Tampa Bay Rays, who have spirited rivalry with Boston Red Sox)
2024: Colorado at St. Louis, Busch Stadium
2025: Philadelphia at NY Islanders, Citi Field (45th anniversary of Islanders' first Cup victory, which was over Philly)

Or they could just stop the winter classic. It has lost its novelty at this point.

There should be some outdoor games, Penguins-Flyers at Beaver Stadium at PSU is a good idea, but it shouldn't be a yearly thing.

if the NHL insists on holding outdoor games, make the ASG an outdoor game

the winter classic/stadium series/etc got old a long time ago. outdoor games in general got old after like the 3rd winter classic. then the stadium series really killed it off. not to mention the fact that it was always hawks/bruins/pens

Out of 1,271 reg season games there's 1 WC and a few HC/ Stadium Series games and people are complaining.

And some wonder why the NHL is poor at marketing. Too many of the fans have zero imagination.

And to the OP what are you proposing that's so different  It's Philly-Pitt in 2019.
For OPs future match ups I see Philly twice, Pitt once, and they've both had multiple outdoor games.

The novelty wouldn’t wear off if teams that never get a chance to go see one live with their team get that chance.

It is really more about the live experience and not people on TV watching.
