we have no cap space. so they’ll have to send Vesalainen to the taxi squad to make room and run with 13 forwards 7 defense 3 goalies. If we get a single injury we're going to have to waive Forsberg because playing with 12F or 6D is dangerous. So is our plan here just to keep Forsberg on the roster until Mike Smith is healthy?

Chevy just screwed Edmonton by claiming Forsberg... especially if there's something serious with Mike Smith

Edmonton will grab Forsberg as soon as they can - their goalie depth has just been blown out of the water

Hey, screwing the Deadmonton Coilers is always an A+ move...almost as good as screwing the Laffs.

Heck, pack Rosie, Forsburg and any dead weight and trade them to Edmonton.
Muhahahaha!

Just in case, I believe these goalies are still around:
Jimmy Howard
Ryan Miller
Cory Schneider
David Ayres - for games against Toronto only

Can save $800k in cap space by waiving Broissoit instead of Forsberg when the time comes. If they were so inclined.

Can only bury league min + 375k in the AHL/taxi squad, so Broissoit makes too much to bury his whole contract.

Waving Croissant will only save 375k (unless he is claimed, but I doubt we want Forsberg as a backup)

Unless of course they get claimed...which seems like a possibility.

I don't think it's something worth doing from an organizational reputation perspective.

Little know fact about this new pickup, he's the only known goalie on earth that the Zhamnov maneuver doesn't work on.

The math on waiving Brossoit to the taxi squad is:

$1,500,000 - $1,075,000 = $425,000 in savings not $800,000.

Further waiving Brossoit risks losing him for Forsberg to then become the Jets #2. In a perfect world we've have had Comrie on the taxi squad which wouldn't have affected the Jets cap at all.

Instead that gamble cost Chevy $700,000 in cap space.

As bad as this was for the Jets, it's even worse for Forsberg who is doomed to be a healthy scratch this entire season with a city of Jets fans hoping thats exactly what happens.

I guess I wasn't clear enough. When the time comes to waive a goalie, do you waive (say bye, no taxi, arriverderci, someone claims him, etc, etc) Brossoit and save cap space for any potential trade in-season. There's not much difference between the two statistically.

All teams must have a taxi squad goalie. For the time being Michael Berdin is ours.

Once the Moose season starts, yes a goalie will be waived. If you are suggesting this should be Broissot, let's play that out.

1) Brossoit clears waivers and is placed on the taxi squad. $1,500,000 - $1,075,000 saved us $425.000 in cap space & in terms of real money Jets continue paying his contracts full value.

2) In all likelihood Broissot gets claimed. Jets forced to add Forsberg as their #2. In this case $800,000 is the net savings. Broissot is clearly comfortable in his roll, recently signing his 3rd contract with Chevy. Losing him leaves the Jets starting from scratch in their search for a #2. Meanwhile Hellebuyck is very content that Broissot is a fellow client of Alpha Hockey Inc. giving him a partner to share in his assigned routine. Further the Jets would still need someone to occupy that taxi squad spot as this all began with Berdin going to play with the Moose. Now the Jets are trading to take on another goalie contract and he'll have to be shitty enough to clear waivers or have a big contract that no ones want to touch.

Hey wasn't the idea here to save money? Let's not entertain thoughts of waiving Broissot.

If the Jets would have kept Comrie on the roster instead of waiving him he would also be using up the same cap space.
