I was wondering if that may play into a team’s selection. For instance, does Lundell get selected sooner than perhaps he would have under normal circumstances since he can continue playing unaffected in Finland this year.

And to answer your statement, value of picks shouldn't change. In most cases, they've always been a crap shoot. It's really up to teams to use them wisely based on information at hand.
