Grenier SCORES!!!!!!! 2-1 on the PP!!!!!!!!!!!! That's been forever coming.

Kenins another point. He just keeps piling them up, but Benning put him on the available list. Don't succeed on the farm. You go if possible.

Before I finish typing Hershey scores and it's 3-1. Pedan another position error. Doesn't cover the back door and an all alone tap in takes place.

Now Negrin off for tripping. This could blow up real quick. 5 and 1/2 left in the period. Come on PK unit.

Now another call. Zalewski tripping and a 17 seconds 2-man advantage.

You couldn't argue with that. It would roll up a lot of points that's for sure.

LaBate goes at it once again. This kid seems to find a partner every game lately.

Went for dinner with 5 minutes left and score 3-1. Pretty active last 5 minutes!

Hershey's game reminds me of Toronto. They play hard, get a lead, and slow down and play rope a dope unless you catch up. You make up some ground and they put the pedal down and seem to just go score because they want to.

Seems someone mistakenly posted the score as 4-2 , thus my surprise at 2 more scores in the last 5 minutes of the second.

4-1 at this point looks insurmountable. The rope a dope is in action, though Utica's chances seem too good. Too bad they lack those snipers I'm being panned for having wanted. 42 shots last night and only 2 goals. Really getting chances tonight, but can't finish. One of the stars at the end of most Comets games is the opposing keeper. That means he makes lots of saves or at least stops most of the shots. Not every keeper in the league is all-league, but the Comets seem to make them look to be such.

10 minutes left and still 4-1 Hershey.

Comets to the PP. 2 on 0 for the Bears. This is just ridiculous. The Comets PP gives up lots of chances, but 2 on 0 is beyond bad.

5-1 Hershey.

2 on 1 Hershey again and an Archi back check breaks it up with a long reach. PP sucks once again without a threat while surrendering a goal and and another 2 on 1.

Grenier all alone in front and fails again. Good save, but that kind of chance has to end up in the net. Those are the kind of chances Shinkaruk got his goals on. Now someone else must score them.

Hmm St. John's 1 game over .500, Utica wins. Lehigh Valley 1 game under .500, another Comets win. Hershey 15 games over .500, Utica gets pasted.

4 points out of 6 is a good weekend, but the pattern of who they defeat continues. Can't hold this one against them. Comets came in tired and undermanned, playing their 3rd in 3 days, and the Bears were rested and waiting. Bears come away 5-1 winners. They take over first place in the Atlantic Division ahead of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton who has been #1 all season.

The Comets have 3 more of these 3 game weekends in a row, then a 3 in 4 nights, followed by another 3 in 3 weekend then a little slack with 3 in 5 days, and then finish up with 3 in 3. A brutal schedule all the way to the end with hardly a chance to blink.

Next weekend will be tough, marlies twice and Springfield....

Toronto and Springfield at home and then on the bus to Tornoto for an afternoon tilt.

The following weekend all 3 are on the road and the weekend after that all 3 are at home. They also have 2 away back to back in St. John's in April.

Really need to see what Benning does in the next 19 hours. Has a major impact on the Comets roster. We lose guys, pick up guys, or have no changes. In 2 of the 3 cases the Comets need to pick up a couple players due to their injury situation with a short roster.

Think Wacey has a serious concussion the way he left the ice on Friday.

Jones has something that won't see him really healthy. Got hurt on 12/31 and missed the next 14 games. Returned on 1/12 and missed the last 7 since. That's 21 of the last 22 games. He will be so out of game shape upon his return and the bigger question will be is he really recovered. As is they have no forward replacements.

With Landry out they only have one extra D-man.

So if Any Comets are gone at the deadline (most likely Higgins and Prust, but Gaunce, Kenins, and Subban are possible although I think they'll be safe and thinking that is a curse) or get called up because moves leave the Canucks short, the Comets don't have enough guys to ice a 12 man roster.

If everything here stays as is, they still need at least a couple of forwards or more based on Wacey's situation and probably at least one D-man entering the marathon that is the rest of the season.

Cracknell could be on the way if he passes waivers and the Canucks add, but the waiver issue may have just been to paper him for Utica later. They may know who is leaving Utica and has to be replaced and thus Cracknell just ends up a 1 for 1 and doesn't address the shortage. A lot will happen before next Friday and the Comets roster could be slightly or greatly changed. Just a wait and see for the next 19 hours and then the Comets management goes from there. They don't play again until Friday.

Don't understand why Jimbo didn't add a forward for the Comets. Odd really.

Lol....great news for the Comets....still have two NHL players on the roster, and maybe a third in Weber...and assuming that Vey could also be dispatched to Utica when the Canucks are done...too bad about Cracknell, but the Comets already have lots of veteran leadership.....and with the Marlies being strip-mined by TO, maybe a long playoff run is in their future...good day for Utica fans.

Haven't talked to one Utica fan that is any happier with Benning than any Canuck fan.

Now Benning says there are going to be a lot of call ups from the AHL to get a good look at all before end of season. Great, go up to that cesspool instead of continuing to develop with good coaching, they get to play with clueless / uninspired players with a coach who has no game management...in a losing atmosphere instead of a winning one.

Keep Webber and Vey there...they won't want to be here.

Weber and vey are not eligible for the playoffs, they were not rostered to Utica today unless I missed something.....

Was anyone rostered? Horvat or Hutton?

Cracknell was.. He just didn't make it here..... Gonna be bubblegum and bandaids the rest of the season with the canucks calling up youngsters for a look. Does any one know of any JR players or college kids that may join the comets once their season is over??
