Guitar/bass/mando. But as far as the canes go I'm feeling good about this game. The bruins are good, but if the refs call it as tightly as they have been, our special teams have been strong. If Faulk can't go though we may be in trouble.

Well at this point we know we can beat Buffalo...this game against Boston will be a good measuring stick.

Maybe the most interesting thing about this game is going to be how we match up against the Bruins physically. Both Eric and Jordan are among the harder forwards in the league to control in front of the net. Almost the entire rest of our team is on the small, speedy side which tends to give the Bruins fits, particularly since we draw a lot of penalties and we know how that goes against the Bruins (this isn't just an issue with the Hurricanes, BTW, it's also historically been an issue for them with the Habs as well).

On top of that, we are getting a ton of shots on goal lately, and a Claude Julien team tends to allow a lot of shots on goal provided they are of a fairly low quality. So shooting percentages are going to be an issue, particularly for Alex Semin who really needs to have a good game if we're going to score enough to win.

The one last thing that I'm going to be looking at is their forwards operating in front of our net. Faulk (if he plays), Gleason and Harrison are going to have a lot of big bodies on their hands, and we can't afford to have them losing those battles. Even more so, we need the rest of the defense, the small guys who don't generally do a whole lot of controlling bodies in front of the net, to really stand up and give us a hard nosed game. We can't have Lucic and Horton walking around in front of the net banging rebounds past the goalie without anybody putting a body on them.

I agree that this is going to be a measuring stick game. It'll be interesting to see which team imposes their style on the other. I think the timing is good here, this team really needs to have a serious test of their ability to play physically demanding game against a tough opponent and come out on top. And it's a great time for Ward to come out and bounce back from his slow start. Looking for a close matchup that's going to go right down to the wire, possibly to overtime.

In those seven games he went 5-1-0-1. He has a career .961 save percentage and 1.32 GAA. Small sample size but he has certainly done well in the few games he has played. His AHL numbers are pretty solid too.

We are catching teams in back-to-back situations. Tampa played the night before, Buffalo (home-and-home), Boston plays again Tuesday...

Played violin in middle school, a little past it. Want to take it up again sometime, but probably best to do so after I move to a place a little more private. I screw around on the Harmonica some now, but not in any formal setting.

My brother's the real musician in the family- he's a percussionist. Anything you can whack, he can play, but he usually plays the marimba when he's not doing stuff like timpani in a classical setting. Helps run his school's orchestra, and seriously good, too. If that's the route he wanted to go, it wouldn't be a huge stretch for him to turn pro. Not the route he's going though.

We're the Seinfeld of HF. Our threads have a purpose, are typically at least somewhat amusing, there's a wide array of characters that are both humorous and insightful but nothing flies by so fast that one can't keep pace, and we often create HF culture phenomena out of the most minute things. But overall, what's the purpose other then our own amusement?

I started guitar lessons at five, same time I started hockey. Parents thought they were brilliant till I was 17 and all I wanted to do was to play guitar and hockey.

I also played the trumpet in the school band. The horror. Apparently it's cool in this thread. It was forced at the time. Competitive with all sorts of extra practices and competitions. 645 before school every day for weeks before any performance. Blah.
