Yes. Never wanted to sign a long term contract for a player already on decline and past his prime.

Well at least my jersey decisions for next year got a little less daunting.

The only two tweets he ever liked linked him to signing with the Leafs.

He may not have "played any games" but he did cocktease us a little bit, no?

If we were truly interested in Stammer, Tampa saved us from ourselves.

I did not want him and I'm just relieved this is over now. And before someone accuses me of lying, feel free to go through my post history and/or previous Stammer threads.

With that said, good luck to Stammer. Unlike some, I'll still support him and I believe this is the best situation for him.

Hey @Real_ESPNLeBrun, any slimmest-of-slim chance Stamkos is sign/trade deal?

I can respect wanting to sign with the team that drafted you.

Ah well. Better Tampa then Detroit/Buffalo/Montreal etc.

No. Big. Deal.

5 years from now, we're in the playoffs and looking back on this thankful we didn't sign him for 10-12 million.

Wayyy too much of a risk IMO.

And why the heck would anyone "boo" stamkos? A hometown star deserves praise wether he signed with you or not.

I don't think the Leafs plan on tanking. nor do i want them to. our babies have suffered enough crap already they need to start winning

as regards to Stamkos. I'm only sad to the point that he was close. but whatever. it was always us v. TB and it makes sense once the 8th year kicked in.

I'm more curious where Lou is and how he's gonna get us a defenseman in his bag of tricks.

Meh, that was a while ago. To me that just tells me that he definitely entertained the idea of coming to Toronto and this was probably a pretty tough decision.

I'd say he came and found out we weren't going to just open the vault so e hurried back to Tampa. Probably never was interested in Detriot or Buffalo but would have come here for an overpayment.
