I'm tired of seeing mediocre champions who lack strength in offense, defense, special teams, etc.

All the cap has done is ensure semi good team get to the cup. Neither of the finalists are as good as the 2002 red wings or even the Ducks from a few years back.

The cap needs to go, this is not quality play.

So you'd rather see teams 10 or so teams be extremely competitive and stacked, and teams like Phoenix sign 20 guys to min contracts?

I don't think I agree with you, but the sad thing is that even with the cap, there are a bunch of teams that just don't seem to have any future. So it is certainly not doing it's job.

I kinda agree, it can go either way really. Some of the people that left for the KHL may still be here if there wasn't a cap

The League is making record profits right now and just signed the largest deal in NHL history (which still isn't that large in context, happy h8ers?).

Why would they want the Cap to leave?

They still would have got to TV deal anyway. The revenue would not go do because of no cap.

The cap has not even solved the issues of spending as the floor is too high.

But on topic. Tonight's game is atrocious. The play is awful.

It is, but a salary cap does not allow a GM to easily cover their failures. It makes management very liable for team success.

Considering that when I brought up the business side of the argument you labeled me off topic...

If the topic is Salary Cap= Lousy Hockey, then wouldn't this thread be better suited for the main board?

Besides, the hockey tonight has been great. (At least for someone rooting for Tim Thomas)

Sorry, I meant me. But I disagree. Blowout every night are ridiculous. This is a finals.

Put Marc Savard and Nathan Horton back in the Boston lineup and they might not beat the '02 wings, but they'd give 'em a worthwhile series.

Lucic - Savard - Horton
Marchand - Krejci - Recchi
Peverley - Bergeron - Ryder
Seguin - Kelly - Thornton

Chara - Seidenberg
Ference - Boychuk
Kaberle - McQuaid

Thomas
Rask

Campbell
Paille
Hnidy

That's pretty insane depth down the middle, on D, and in goal. Playoff-built and apparently capable of almost winning a Cup without their two best forwards.
