Read >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>Conacher

No. Read is 26 going on 27 in June, what he is is great for us, but Conacher is a 23 year old rookie who was close to PPG through much of this year. He has tapered off since but still has 25 points in 35 games which is around a 60 point year in an 82 game season. Kids going to be a stud. By all accounts he already is.

The fact the Flyers were in on Bishop is an indication they're looking at new starting goaltending.

Which could make the whole expensive defense argument pointless.

If we had a goaltender whose production was equal to his cost, then we could work around that and plan our defense accordingly whether he was crappy with a low cap hit or great with a high cap hit.

This **** production for a high price between the pipes has to stop.

People were complaining that we didn't get an actual back-up to Bryz... then we acquire Mason and everyone hates it without even knowing the return?

I get it. It's fun to laugh at Mason. That said, we're talking about a guy who could clearly benefit from a change of scenery and be an interesting reclamation project.

They'll resign him cheaper. He is young and could bounce back. Not great, but not that bad.

Ain't no trades it looks like. Probably a good thing. All our dudes who were worth anything insofar as trade value are hurt and there didn't appear to be anything available worth trading our younger guys for. Still got about a half hour so we'll see how this ends, but I don't see anything happening for us.

EDIT: LOL, as I typed this they traded for Mason. Wtf.
