Early message to all doubters and naysayers



The Devils responded after a hectic and scattered first period by pounding the Rangers into submission in the second period. Sergey Kalinin led the way with a Gordie Howe Hat Trick and gave Henrik Lundqvist a lesson.

And our friendly, neighborhood Schneiderman did whatever a Schneider can



Don't get too excited there Steve.

Now, the negative nancies may be out tonight with us playing the Blue Jackets. A team that, despite not being very good, has had our number for some reason this season. Also, Keith Kinkaid will be our starter in all likelihood as John Hynes said he and Schneiderman will split these next two games.

But you know what I have to say to said negative nancies?

There is a full quarter of the season left but that is deceptive: because,

If we figure that we need maybe 97 points to make the playoffs, and have 67 now and 21 games left,
we need 30 points out of these 21 remaining games,

Thus from here we've got to go 15 and 6 (or some other combination like 13 - 2 - 4). We MUST have this game tonight.

Team and Kinkaid better be ready to go. We really need this win against Columbus. Have to put together and winning streak. Team needs to play like they did for much of the game against the Rangers and Kinkaid needs to play like he did against LA. Let's go, Devils! We can do this! :handclap:

The biggest factor is the teams ahead of us in the Metro have 2 and 3 games in hand and are winning more than us right now.

I'm just going to enjoy the meaningful hockey while it lasts.

If it takes us to the playoffs, terrific. If not, it was a hell of a season for this team.

We don't know for sure yet it's Kinkaid though it would make more sense to play him today and Cory in the four point game tomorrow, and they did commit to playing Kinkaid in one of the games.

They can uncommit in a hurry too though.

If it's going to be a spilt you play Kinky here though. Tomorrow's game is way more important.
