Not exactly. Team lose good players due to the cap all the timeThe NFL salary cap is fake. Teams can just make up new contracts and magically erase bad contracts without a problem.

I didn’t either, but a player of his archetype is either an outlier/star or most likely out of the league (unless they’re a return specialist). I just don’t see it with him, and I’d rather see a rookie take his spot.I never expected him to be. But as a third WR I thought he had a chance to be a good deep threat. OUR OC scenario last year was in disarray. And considering both Wilson and Fields can throw the deep ball I thought that would afford Austin an opportunity.
They just signed a couple depth receivers though. Van Jefferson and Quez Watkins. They have GP, They'll either draft one in the 2hd or 3rd round or make a trade for one. That seems rather crowded to me. I'm not against McCaffery at all, but it seemingly would only make sense if you're moving on from CA3.
The salary cap crunch they are facing especially since debo is entering his contract year next season and already making 25 million a year purdy is getting paid soon. They are 24 million over the cap with. 38 players signed
In order for them to tag him they have to clear 50 million.Watkins' place on the roster isn't exactly cemented. If Austin can't beat him then it doesn't matter if he's replaced.
... what does that have to do with San Francisco tagging Aiyuk and trading him next offseason like Kansas did with Sneed? If they trade him, he's not on the cap.
Though this is true, sometimes that's just because they don't want to pay them. Khan could clear like 40m here if he needed to and I would imagine the cap is going to keep skyrocketing barring a financial collapse or another pandemic. Not exactly. Team lose good players due to the cap all the time

The top right is filled with the elite WR in the game - Hill, Lamb, St. Brown, Aiyuk, Jefferson, Brown, etc. I'm not really sure what you're arguing but I think those guys all help you win games.Top right are guys who catch a few balls for a lot of yards. Those are the kinds of measures that look good over a long period of time but may or may not help you win games. You need compliers, too.
A complete assessment of this measure would include the offense and quarterback in play.
I am still learning my right from my left. Please read the previous post but starting with "top left." Sorry. The top right is filled with the elite WR in the game - Hill, Lamb, St. Brown, Aiyuk, Jefferson, Brown, etc. I'm not really sure what you're arguing but I think those guys all help you win games.
Three takeaways:
Aiyuk is really good.
Giving away Johnson was and is dumb.
Tyler Boyd stinks.
Thomas is definitely in the range of outcomes. He’d be my pick personally, although I wouldn’t be upset if they decide to go with o-line instead.I’m getting very concerned as I look at the WRs in the second and third rounds that the ones the Steelers will have available aren’t really boundary WRs but slot ones…I think we can manage with the WRs we have to cover the slot but we need someone else than Pickens, who’s not even a good route runner himself, to win battles and get open on the other side of the field…I think that WR is a bigger need than O line…I hope they strongly consider Thomas, Mitchell etc in round one, even if they move down
They didn't have him as one of the pre-draft visits. Would be off brand to draft him #1 without that having happened.Thomas is definitely in the range of outcomes. He’d be my pick personally, although I wouldn’t be upset if they decide to go with o-line instead.

They had Mitchell in for a pre draft visit…they might have thought Thomas wouldn’t be available for them and he might not still beThey didn't have him as one of the pre-draft visits. Would be off brand to draft him #1 without that having happened.
Yeah , thats all true but and there are always options of you want to dip into future years. But Javon Hargrave would be a steeler right now if the cap didnt bite once in a while.
I don’t think that’s very significant. We’ll see on Thurs. They didn't have him as one of the pre-draft visits. Would be off brand to draft him #1 without that having happened.
He had no reason to be upset. RW hadn't signed yet. And KP sure wasn't gonna lead him to paydirt on his next contract.DJ wasn’t traded for football reasons. It was contract and locker-room related issues. It’s tough to say if the latter was dumb without being in the room. The DJ split seemed very mutual. He didn’t appear to be upset moving on from the Steelers.
I’ve long been a DJ apologist, but to me it seemed like it was in everyone’s best interest to move on. The Steelers usually don’t give WRs like him massive extensions. He had no reason to be upset. RW hadn't signed yet. And KP sure wasn't gonna lead him to paydirt on his next contract.
True. We don't know if we can apply Colbert's practices and tendencies to Khan yet obviously.I don’t think that’s very significant. We’ll see on Thurs.
They had already paid Tuitt and Cam could not justify paying HargraveFor sure. They weren't going to pay a NT what he made as a DT in Philly.
Philly and Hargrave bet on him, and they were right.
Yeap only 2 wr have gotten 3rd contracts from us. AB and Ward once they decided he wasn’t going to get a 3rd contract it was best for both sides to move on. He wanted an extension according to DK.I’ve long been a DJ apologist, but to me it seemed like it was in everyone’s best interest to move on.
