Wow, what can be said after watching that performance?

Some people think all loses are the same, and all wins are the same. I.E. nothing matters but the W's and L's. I have to say I am not one of those people. That loss last night seems to hurt much more than a loss where you just watched a team gut it out for 60 minutes and lose an honest effort. I don't know if I can pinpoint one play (other than maybe Little trying to win a footrace), where I saw a Jet go heads down full effort. Just a terrible performance overall effort wise.

Still wondering how long the team is going to try to pass to each other in the neutral zone, especially while they are standing still. That was frustrating to watch. Cross the red line, get the puck deep, and start winning some battles for pete's sake.

Trying not to get to low on a few losses (as I try not to get to high on the wins), but man, if there are many more nights like that in the effort department, I would hope that there would be some serious soul searching and players only meetings from the leadership.

I watched the first period and was so bored with the play and the atmosphere of the building. I decided to instead join some friends online for NHL 13 on Xbox and followed via "The Score" App. Glad I didn't waste my time with that game, what a joke. Looks like this has to be explained after every home game.

Management decided to be brilliant and make the center ice seats behind the benches and exclusive club that costs 25k per seat per year. Obviously it has less than 30% occupancy and those who did purchase it spend almost the entire game watching from the lounge at the top of the section eating and drinking the "free" food.

It makes the arena look empty when in reality the rest of the sections are pretty full.

last guy had a good point re traffic in front of the net...lost count of the number of times over th epast three games or so when I was yelling at the TV "somebody get in front of the net!" while the Jets moved the puck around the perimeter...

I was going to post the same thing. How many times do we throw the puck beautifully through the slot or even the crease and there is no one there. The answer is many, many times.

On the same topic, it's not just the PK where we collapse and stop moving, it happens many times at full strength! We collapse and stand around watching the opposing team pass the puck around the perimiter. The best Jets player I saw breaking this pattern was Wright, beleive it or not He would make that extra effort to put some real pressure on his opponent and either make them make a mistake or actually steal the puck.

I honestly am beginning to question the conditioning of many of the Jets. The last two games they have looked lethargic and unitnterested in many cases. The penalties came because they were too lazy to take one extra step.

On the positive side,

• I think Kane is consistently trying.
• I could tell when the Jets were about to score because Wheeler woke up for about 5 minutes.
• Writght had another solid game.
• Redmond looked good for his first game.

Poni's Penalty was the Very moment that we reverted to last years Jets

Until that moment it wasn't pretty but that was the evolving Jets team we have been talking about. There are just some penalty's that you cannot TAKE!! Up 3-2 there is no excuse to trip someone behind their own net you can just let him go and just chase him create some back pressure. That was the very moment we reverted to last years Jets. The game plan was kicked in the Nuts and we just couldn't get back on our feet!

Losses like this that just make you sick are good for teaching. Now Poni if you take the same penalty in the same situation your just a bad hockey player but I don't think that's the case just caught up in the moment.

You learn to lose before you learn to win!

Get some perspective, folks. Its a long *ss road trip - from Wnnipeg to south Florida. Is it news to anyone that teams play better at home and worse on the road?

You're (we're) in this for the long haul. The team philosophy has always been to develop within and at this point we just don't have the development chips like St Louis or Florida or Washington (a Thrasher legacy I'm sorry to say). We were average last year and have changed very little. Hate it, but odds are we are going to be average this year and better at home than on the road. Also no Buff last night.

I think I can stand back and better assess the jets sometimes than those of you closer to the action. Night in and night out this team gets more out of less talent than just about anybody.

Good stuff. Kane is becoming a top level player. Enstrom signed for awhile. Redmond looked good (knew he would). Trouba in the long term pipeline.

The thing that drives me nuts is that this team thinks its the Penguins or the Canucks. They just try to be too fancy in the offensive in the zone where they really just need to be slapping the puck at the net and picking up the garbage around the net. That's how this team will win, not by trying to show off impressive skill but by winning the dirty puck battles and getting some shots on net.

Doing that is going to break up the Defense while your in the zone, we saw this part in parcel in the Habs game where Jokinen took that shot that never had a chance...but it broke up enough of the D that allowed the scoring chance.

How can Noel say that the PK was "fine"...unless "fine" really means Feelings Inside Not Expressed. That is the weakest moment of our game, right up there with the PP.

They need to establish themselves in the offensive zone, and win the necessary puck battles to keep it in. Thu need to generate shots on net during the PP and put pressure in the goalie to be forced to make good saves, and win battles down low to keep the rebounds.

I've never been a hockey player, but to me it looks like the team needs to be by far more aggressive while in the defensive zone and on the PK.

It's the special teams that have killed us the last few games.

For example...Burmi is by far our best PKer, yet he barely saw the ice on the PK. Both him and Antro need to be the 1st unit.

More out of less talent? I'm pretty sure the last two nights are not an indication of that. I agree that we may not have TONS of top end talent, but to say that there is little to no talent I think is off pace. Kane ism looking to actually become the complete player we need him to be. Both Little and Ladd are great two way players. Our top pairing D is the best offensive pairing in the league. Granted we don't have any bonafide superstars, we so have a lot of players that are pretty good. It's totally reasonable for us, the fans, to expect this team to win hockey games. Especially THOSE games.

Going into that game, even with our "average" team, there was no reason for the Panthers to win that game, let alone dominant it like they did.

21 and 25 Shots on goal over the past 2 games isn't going to cut it. I agree that the fancy passing isn't going to work until they're good enough to do it consistently. They need to dump it in, work to get it to the net and work more to get those close in goals.

How many missed opportunities over the past 2 games due to missed passes or broken plays? Get the puck on the goal and have someone on the doorstep.

That seems to be the talent level of the majority of the team, so do what works!

On a talent basis alone, do you think that the Panthers dressed a better lineup? Having Buff and Bogo out did hurt, but overall I don't see how the Panthers lineup would be considered more talented than ours.

What has most people here frustrated, and questioning the team, has been the effort, heart, jam, guts, etc, etc, that has been sorely missing from the last two games.

Nothing to do with talent level, expectations, etc. I'm just frustrated with what I saw last night from an effort standpoint. It was a terrible display IMO, and one that has nothing to do with talent.

Yeah a Visor with latches on the side would work.

You shouldn't fight with a visor tho its kind of cowardly. I can see from the leagues perspective that if they wanna get rid of that kind of fight where there is no real repercussion for fighting (Like taking a fist to the face) that it might make some guys think twice about fighting.

Neither is that talented, but IMO Winnipeg has generally shown more effort, heart, jam etc (which are all somewhat emotion-based) than Florida or most teams, for that matter. it would not be unusual for a long road trip to sap some of that emotion - human nature. I still say, big picture, this team shows good heart.
