The Leafs are clearly the best Canadian team, but they aren't contenders.

Right now I would say leafs clearly aren’t the best Canadian team (I would put edm and WPG slightly ahead, but it’s a three way battle). However, if Anderson can get back in form they would be contenders.

I would change the title of this thread to the opposite.
Hopefully those lucky clover jerseys give them some good luck!

I think the Sens get so scared and petrified of Drai and McDavid, that they just start playing nervous and bad. They play more like they belong when they play TO and some other teams. Much more confident.

if the Sens also wanted to win more, they would play Daccord over Murray whenever they can. Guy looks way better. He was great in 2 Edmonton games

Fortunately for Ottawa, they don't have to play 97/29 for another month

Are they top of the contending pack? No. But they're contenders. Anybody saying otherwise is just hating.

I'd say they are marginally the best team...

The best by far? Absolutely not... WPG has the 2 elite centers that can compete with Matthews/Tavares. EDM has Drai/McDavid. As a Sens fan, still having nightmares on that one...

Losers of the last 5 of 6 now...........anyone, want a mulligan?
Seriously, why do fans of teams do this, post a thread about their team being the best? Halfway through a season? The team then goes a crap streak, and makes the team an easy target?
Face it, the Leafs are a playoff team...that would pretty much cover it especially over the last 10 days.

And if someone puts up a thread about how great Winnipeg is, what if the Jets go through a cold slump?

The Leafs are 9th in the NHL taking strength-of-schedule into account. Here's the chart:

I will bet on Jets and Oilers over leafs in a seven game series .

Edmonton's goaltending is hardly better and Winnipeg needs to cut down on high danger chances unless they're banking on Hellebyuck providing .975 goaltending

Toronto is in a rough patch but I think talk of their demise is premature. Still the best overall team in the Canadian Division. Fantastic group of forwards that control so much of the play, a strong group of D and a good goalie. Real question is if the goalie can steal them a game come playoff time.

to use a term from 2015-16 dallas stars threads:

The North Division is here to burn down the Maple Leafs' village
