It's a good article, but the title is a bit misleading. HBO is still the golden child within Warner Media and the rest of the company is really what is under siege, merging under orders to go full bore into HBO Max and possibly just burning off brands such as TNT and sacrificing outside for production for inside content. That is why the analogy in there of 1+1+1=1 is a good one. The marching orders have also come from the top without specifics of which direction to start marching.

HBO max is making a killing. When the next quarter reports come in it will show just how much damage they have done to both Netflix and Amazon. IT is being very aggressive in an unknown economy.

HBO max is underperforming in attracting new subscribers

Most who have an an HBO max account are people who had HBO Go or a cable subscription. Infact most people who qualify for HBO max as part of having cable subscription haven't even activated accounts because of the ROKU fight
