Because these are the players the team's own scouting departments says are your best prospects? What do you think they should have done? Call you and ask?

How about instead of using teams' scouts/GM's, get some independent sources that don't have anything to gain/lose by objectively rating the prospects?

To leave out a worthy prospect because you don't want his agent having more to bargain with is to not do any list justice.

1. Bennett
2. Despres
3. Tangradi
4. Jeffrey
5. Samuelsson
6. The Kuhn
7. Strait
8. Bortuzzo
9. Thiessen
10. D'Agostino

The top 2 are clearly reversed in my opinion.

Thanks for the list.

Interesting to see D'Agostini there over Carl Sneep. Or even over Ben Hanowski and Bryan Rust.

Canes:

1. Dalpe
2. Faulk
3. Dumoulin
4. Bowman
5. Nash
6. Sanguinetti
7. Alt
8. Biega
9. Rissanen
10. Jordan

Thanks! Interesting to see Bowman so low.

Interesting. I had a Bruins fan tell me yesterday that Colborne was their 5th or 6th best prospect before the trade.

That would be false. He was arguably their best prospect when ceiling is taken into account, certainly no lower than #2.

Canes:

1. Dalpe
2. Faulk
3. Dumoulin
4. Bowman
5. Nash
6. Sanguinetti
7. Alt
8. Biega
9. Rissanen
10. Jordan

Thanks, looks about right given that I'm sure Boychuk, Skinner, and McBain are all no longer counted. Sounds about right in terms of how they regard the dmen as well, the Canes are really high on their NCAA guys right now.

Thanks! Interesting to see Bowman so low.

At first glance, yes, but really it's about right. Hard to say between Dumoulin and Bowman who would be the 3rd best on this list, and they went with Dumoulin. Dalpe and Faulk as 1 and 2 are prettymuch no-brainers at this point.

Leafs top 10 anyone?

From post #76 of the thread:

Toronto:

1. Nazem Kadri (13)
2. James Reimer
3. Brad Ross
4. Keith Aulie
5. Luca Caputi
6. Greg McKegg
7. Jerry D'Amigo
8. Marcel Mueller
9. Jurai Mikus
10. Jesse Blacker

Joe Colborne is 45th overall, but is still listed on Boston's farm. So he'd slide in as #2 on the Leafs list.

Sure, someone else who spends all his time watching NHL prospects on a professional basis, but who doesn't work for an NHL organisation. Such as....

I didn't say "someone else who spends all his time watching NHL prospects," I said "independent sources." How about former scouts, GM's of CHL teams, coaches of CHL/NCAA teams, guys around the NHL/hockey, Pierre McGuire - Anyone who is in the know, but doesn't have any political interest in where the player is listed in a prospect report.

Wondering why Hodgson is behind those of Kassian (14), and Erixon (15). I also wonder why Schroeder (71) is so low down, and Shirokov is so low down on the Canucks list.

I don't know if the list was already posted but:

1. Cody Hodgson (16)
2. Jordan Schroeder (71)
3. Chris Tanev
4. Anton Rodin
5. Eddie Lack
6. Kevin Connauton
7. Yann Sauve
8. Bill Sweatt
9. Sergei Shirokov
10. Victor Oreskovich

I definatly like the hockeys future top ten more (even if it's not updated, and not entirely accurate):

1. Hodgson
2. Rodin
3. Shirokov
4. Schroeder
5. Billy Sweatt
6. Connauton
7. McNally
8. Tanev
9. Lack
10. Cannata

Complaining about where your favourite prospect is ranked is akin to complaining about preseason predictions for the upcoming season. I'd also like to know if anyone complaining about the rankings actually took the time to read the descriptions of each player.

Jack Campbell: Mentions his up-and-down season, the WJC, and how he will be a long-term project.

Nazem Kadri: This write-up was fairly critical of Kadri's abilities, despite ranking 13th.

David Rundblad: A coach calling him the best Swedish blueliner in the country. The Sens director of player personnel mentions how he likes his offensive/transition game, but he needs to work on his d-zone coverage, and possibly add a physical edge. Compared to Karlsson, but further along.

So, basically everything that was mentioned in the thread.

Yeah, I know what you said. That's just the point - those "independent sources" suffer from shortcomings that vastly and massively outweigh the theoretical risk that some NHL scout made let ulterior motives affect how he ranks a particular player.

How the **** would any of those be in a position to submit a viable list of the top 50 prospect playing in the CHL, AHL, ECHL, NCAA, Europe or elsewhere? The only group of people who keeps up an overall overview of that is NHL scouting departments.

I agree with most of the picks, however I'd take Galchenyuk over Trouba.

I would say that Hamilton should be higher, and that Murphy should be on the list but other than that seems fine.
