He’s the prototype player for the team you are trying to build? Listen I’ll admit I’m wrong if the draft picks come to fruition I just hated the trade from the day it was rumored. Hagel was one of my favorite players and I think he would have done more good here than what we got in return. That’s it.

I'll take two 25% chances on finding an NHL'er plus Raddy + Boris, rather then keeping Hagel and then overpaying him.

Even our own recent picks in the 20+ range since 2010 include Rinzel (looks promising), Nolan Allan (heading to WJC), Beaudin (not great), Jokiharju, Alex Friggin' Debrincat, Nick Schmaltz, Hartman, Danault, and Kevin Hayes. We haven't actually been all that horrible at this, which is shocking.

I had no idea there were hawks fans out there that diddnt like the Hagel trade. I love Hagel as a player but in the hawks situation you make that trade 11 times out of 10.

Bowman said as much...he admitted to having traded or ‘lost’...as in Hayes...those ‘next players’ in trades to continue a culture of winning now, it cost us the future...

Would hate this guy on the team.

I was one of the biggest early Hagel fans, from saying look in Rockford that he deserved way more praise than Kurashev.

But no I don't want him on this team. Especially not for the good value he got, but because this team should be as bad as possible. It's bizarre how so many posts ignore the value is in the tank to trade him, plus others.

To complain about late 1sts. Which could still be a mid 1st if the Lighting lose round 1. But ignore the goal of this and next year, at least, is to get 1-3 picks in the draft. Having good players like Hagel puts it more likely to 5-10 range. So where is the better value there?

Hagel's a nice player and I wish him well but this team needed to be stripped bare for assets. He's a finishing piece, not a core one.
