The end of the McDavid/Draisaitl era if they lose to Vancouver?

No way. Gotta try again without fixing the defense another year.
Holland will trade for OEL and sign Stecher to 8 mil contract and call it a day

Lack of depth on Edmonton is about the most tired argument out there. Crosby won Cups with players you can't begin to remember.
Crosby was a man. Cant compare him to Mcbaby

Both Draisaitl and McDavid are 1.5ppg in the playoffs in their careers and the best goalies they've played with were Cam Talbot and Mikko Koskinen. It is criminal how this team have not had just an average goalie for the entire time they've both been there.

The Oilers have like ten contracts coming off the books either this year or next. That'll be Ken Holland's last chance to prove he knows anything about GM'ing in the cap era.

The more important question is, can the Oilers afford to resign both McDavid and Drai? Draisaitl will want 13M on his next contract.
they'll do whatever it takes to get both of them in. They both love playing with each other. I cant see why either of them leaves and will probably do whatever it takes to get them both in. What do you do with the rest of the team after though. Need to upgrade their defense, I just cant see them winning a cup with guys like Kulak and Ceci

Skinner is good and should get better overtime, but Pickard? ehh, does Rodrigue get brought up in 1-2 years full time?

Only thing breaking the Oilers is Gary’s game managers turning back the clock to the obstruction era. Pathetic officiating this playoffs.
Good lord do you guys ever whine abput officiating when its actually Canucks fans that should complain about the mickey mouse calls oilers got. Its the playoffs, time to man up and wear your big boy pants.

Both fan bases crying about the refs. Haha. Go to the oilers thread, it is a conspiracy against them. Go to the Canucks thread, cry babies says NHL wants mcdavid in the finals. Bunch of jokers both sides.
One side is more justified than the other. Oilers have benefited from refs, DOPS, Toronto review room etc. While Canucks keep getting the short end of the stick every time. Please name me one thing the Oilers ever got the short end of stick against Canucks??

How does any legit fan of hockey can like the charging call on Pettersson and the dive by McDavid to draw a call?

It's just embarrassment for the game.

Before binnington and Adin hill won the cup, you must have been certain that these were surefire #1 goalies.

Goalies hit and miss in the playoffs. Oilers getting hellybuck for free still won't win the cup. Look how that went for the jets, a vezina candidate looking like Skinner 2.0.

That is the refs problem. Neither fan base will influence or change a thing. Tossing garbage wouldn't help. Fans can cry about it, won't change the outcome.

They are about as far off as Vancouver is, and they aren’t very close.

No depth, poor defence, haven’t won a game with McDavid beyond the second round. Haven’t beaten a team in the playoff other than Calgary and Los Angeles
It was a long time ago, but the core of McDavid, Drai, Nuge, Nurse beat SJ in 2017 too.

Both Talbot and Mike Smith delivered some average goaltending IMO. Unfortunately, average just wasn't good enough.

The mcdavid draft year, chiarelli trading 2 picks for Reinhart really messed this franchise up. It began a chain reaction. At the time, should have also kept Hall and roll with a bunch of rookies.

Tossing garbage actually is one of the ways fans can influence the league.

Having an embarassing disruption like that gets media attention, and the PR loving league will no doubt have a look at why the fans reacted that way.

Fans all get mad at calls, but fans don't throw things onto the ice every bad call.

You are wrong. There were a bunch of missed calls tonight according to oilers fans. So to sum up, both fan bases are looking at the game from their own biases.

It is the same as having both fan bases calling Craig Simpson an idiot for cheering the other team all night. Crying about bias commentating is stupid. Just hit the mute button.

Nobody talked about the garbage after the game. If you think that helps, keep dumping then.

They threw garbage because that Petersson call was a garbage phantom call. Stop looking at things from your oilers colored glasses and see why every fanbase except one agreed that it was a garbage call. Since when is jumping up, charging? I guess the refs will call roughing on Garland because he was scratching his own nuts.

Just off the top of my head, Guerin, Gonchar, Kunitz, Talbot, Cooke, Adam, Orpik, Gill.

That's not including Malkin, Staal, Letang, Fleury.

That's just for 09.

Oilers this year don't have the depth at all
Who is Adam?

How many of those players went on to have great careers outside of Pittsburgh.
