Wait I thought McDavid wasn't going to win the scoring title this year because the team sucks! Then it was because Hitchcock would hurt his point production! 4 points is a good night for any player. It would be nice to see Edmonton compete in the Pacific, that division is old and tired.

I mean, their roster has serious problems with it. Hitchcock won’t be able to mask them in the playoffs.

The NHL and the sport of hockey deserves and requires to see McDavid in the playoffs. A player of his caliber should not spend a second of his career buried in the irrelevance of a terrible team.

It would definitely be nice to see a changing of the guard in the Pacific; time for LA, Anaheim and San Jose to hit the ol' dusty trail. Vegas, Calgary and Edmonton would be a far more exciting top 3 for the division. Especially for playoffs.

Still a small sample size, but this might just be getting them their market correction right now. I don't think they're as good as they've been lately, and it's still a team that lacks depth thanks to Chirelli, who should have been sacked also, but I firmly believe McLellan is one of the worst coaches in the league, despite his stupid and inflated reputation.

They’ve played nobody good and their goaltending will regress back to average. They can’t score enough to win when that happens

The Oilers appear to have turned a corner under Hitchcock and are regaining momentum after a rocky beginning to their season. The identity and style they're playing with after the coaching change is far better suited for the playoff grind too. What does the future hold for them? Playoffs?

No, Connor McDavid looks good.

Are you a Oiler fan or are you someone trying to hit the Oilers fans where it hurts? Odds are PO's are slim and even if they do make it most likely they will not last long. The great player McD is notwithstanding.

Hey, whatever. Wins are wins. Teams can win against anyone on any given night no matter how good or bad they are. Take the W's and hope it turns into more consistent better play. That's what separates the teams during a season.

I'd be surprised if statistically the Oilers haven't been the best defensive team in the League since Hitch took over. The first week of Hitch's tenure was a mixed bag, only tonight did we see the full effect of what Hitch has been preaching. Hitch even said on day 1, he'd need 8 or 9 days to really fix things. He's still only had 3 full practices with the team since he's hired. There's a lot of untapped potential in this coaching change still. Hitch has been talking about how to get our D actually producing offence, and he said it's been a slow process because of the lack of practice. Well lately were seeing Klef actually score, and Larsson jumping up into plays like he was in his rookie season. Don't sleep on the Oilers.

Battle of Alberta II, grind out some more wins, maybe a solid deadline acquisition, and push for playoffs.

Speculating any further for a team like this is folly.

Sure hope McDavid has a strong back. He's got a lot to carry and a lot more games to play. I wonder if and when he'll end up playing over 30 minutes in a game.

They could be a wildcard team.

Which would mean a good chance at facing the Flames. Western Canada is not ready for that saltstorm. Neither is any hockey website on the internet. Would be fun.
