I don’t know that acquiring him is the main issue, how would you possibly sign him to a long term extension without obliterating the ability to ice a deep team with the salary cap.

Nope. (That is, I'm not aware of any NHL rules that require interviews)

DW usually does preseason interview, start of postseason, draft (although DWjr now doing more); available after every trade/acquisition. Plus at least one Q&A with local and selected national reporters each year.
