I know of a few of this kind.. most are Oilers fans living in Calgary long term so over the years the media brainwash and Ads make them "like" the Flames.

the worse are the couples...one that likes Edmonton other that likes Calgary...I could never see myself with a girl that likes the Flames...so nasty
I've lived in Calgary since '95 and married a Flames fan. Kicked her to the curb and made sure both daughters know that the Oilers are the best
I hate the Phlegms but not as much as the Cannots.

No to Dennis Wideman! The refs are going to have a huge bullseye on his back this year and I want the Oilers to be on the PP more often than not

GF doesnt include mcdavid, drais and nurse bonus money that is pretty much guaranteed for at least 2 of them

It's Reinhart, not Nurse who's due serious bonus money if he hits them. I think McDavid's the only one we should be worried about though.

Regardless, there's a 10% overage available until training camp. We shouldn't be worrying about short-term cap right now.

I would say we should assume that McDavid and Drai will hit bonuses, so maybe 5 million of lost space we should assume lost there.

Also remember that we can't use Ference's LTIR cap space to cover the cap space taken by bonuses, making Ference's LTIR space useless to us. Chia discovered this in Boston with the Ignila bonus. So we could take Franson, but it would eat up almost all our space that we should assume.

Although like was said, overage isn't the worst thing in the world.

The bonus money is far from guaranteed. To get the majority of that bonus money they need to be winning awards or finishing top 3 in voting for things like the Hart and Rocket Richard. Also make money if they're voted to the all star team. And no GP doesn't count as a bonus, it's included in the base salary.

Reinhart's bonuses are being overblown, very low chance he hits any of them besides TOI/gm.

I wouldn't mind them taking a shot on Franson if the price is a late pick and or long shot prospect. He's still under 30 and in a contract year so I'd bet he puts up pretty good numbers. Either that or Wiz on a cheap 1 year deal.

Sekera - Larsson
Klefbom - Franson/Wiz
Davidson - Fayne

Davidson/Franson/Fayne could split those #4 minutes with Fayne handling the more defensive assignments and Franson/Wiz getting the o-zone push. Davidson might end up stealing those minutes as he's probably the most well rounded of the 3 with the biggest upside. I'd rather see Klef not start on the top pairing with how much time he missed last year, let him get his feet under him and work his way up to those minutes.

I think you can pencil in McDavid for his bonuses but not Draisiatl, at least as far as schedule B bonuses are concerned. .

thats not true, there is league determined bonuses as well as team determined bonues they can hit. hit a certain amount of pre-determined bonuses such as games played, goals, points, etc. all the rookie deals are structured slightly different. they arent going to put unrealistic goals in a rookies deal they want the players to be happy and telling them they have to win a rocket richard trophy is ridiculous....well maybe not for mcdavid.

Franson for Fernece I'd be fine with.

Wisniewski is still my first choice, but as a #5/6/7 Franson would be fine too.

Klefbom-Larsson
Sekera-Fayne
Davidson-Franson
Oesterle

Considering Davidson did well playing with another turtle in Gyrba, I wouldn't be concerned about the speed on that pairing.

Hell I wouldn't be against bring in both Franson and Wis. Both have injury and consistency concerns, so that would help ease the risk.

Trust me, GP bonuses are included in base salary along with signing bonuses.

Schedule A(or team bonuses) are a max of 212k per bonus and a max of 850k altogether IIRC. Meaning that even if the player makes all their schedule A bonuses their salary cap hit would be around 1.7M

Schedule B bonuses(or league bonuses) are the big ones and max out at around 2M. To win these players have to be nominated to win trophies or be nominated as a 1st team all star.

With that in mind, the only player I see coming close to reaching their bonuses is Mcdavid. Unless you think we'll have 2 Hart trophy candidates, 2 rocket richard candidates, 2 Norris candidates, etc on our team.

Pretty much this. The only player I can see hitting schedule B bonuses aside from McDavid is Puljujarvi with ROTY and that would be a pleasant surprise that means we likely did better than anyone expected. Nurse has no schedule B bonuses, Reinhart does, but his chance of hitting them are probably less than 1%, and if Draisaitl hit his he'd have to perform like a top 10 forward in the NHL.

WTF?!?! That doesn't even make sense.

The rivalry is dead as both teams haven't had any meaningful games against each other forever. I don't mind following the Flames but most of their media are beyond bad with seemingly no clue about hockey.

We still need to find a RD PP specialist. I'm guessing one of the remaing ones will be brought in on a tryout basis.

I have been pro Franson at a good cost for a while. Seems like a great fit as a veteran 3rd pair rhd. He's like a cheaper wideman that doesn't demolish refs (or anyone really).

The Wideman and the refs out to get him is a hyperbole. It was obvious he was stunned after the hit and it was not pure assault on refs because they are refs he served his punishment . I really don't see the Refs holding a grudge . With that being said he is so bad on defence it would be like bringing Schultz back so no thanks.

I'd have time for Franson as our 3rd pairing RHD assuming that his deal ends after this season in the event that he stinks the place up.

I have had multiple concussions and hearing his excuse is complete garbage. I have never been that out of it to assault someone like he did.

:) lol. It's so hard (for me anyway) to really label that whole incident one way or the other, but it sure looked like a mugging to me as well. I've seen fighters get their bells rung and subsequently take swings at the referee... I guess....

Is it possible to be that out of it, get up and skate towards the bench, and then have some 'cross checking' reflex just fire when a body gets in front of you? I haven't cross-checked enough people (or had enough concussions) to know the answer.

To me, it looks exactly as you say. But what do I know.

Franson would be a much better option that Wiz. I was actually onboard for acquiring Wiz in the past but Franson is younger... plays a somewhat physical game and he doesn't have as much of an injury cloud hanging over him like Wiz does right now.

I think Franson would be a very good depth dman to add onto the right side.

Trouba wants way too much cash

Or he could just be asking for a huge amount because he wants out of Winnipeg.

Trouba would cost too much in assets to get. Unless they can sign him to an offersheet.
