By the time this thread ends, this board will have exploded in rage at the deals Benning thought were "good".

That said, I hope for the sake of this franchise Benning decides to head in the youth direction, instead of trading for veterans about to be in a care home.

Also, I'll take this opportunity to make a shout out to Lucbourdon. His podcast has just been released!

Yeah but if Benning sucks the 9th out of San Jose, that'd be unreal.

Dream scenario for tomorrow:

- we acquire 2 more picks in the top 60
- Sbisa is moved in a package for Lucic (ew but yay for no sbisa)
- Bieksa is shipped off somewhere
- Markstrom is moved instead of Lack
- Carlo is NOT a Canuck by the end of the day

When you are one of the worst dman stastically, you can only improve because you can't get any worse.

It's been too long to rememebr but I didn't mind sbisa because I channeled all my hate into Bieksa.

Now that he's gone I can focus on Sbisa getting better or hating him too

Personally, I hope for several trades today. I hope the team is much younger with tons of cap space by tomorrow. I think it will be Hamhuis, Bieksa and Lack, traded in separate deals. Benning seems set to follow through on his earlier statement that he'd try to gather picks. If he pulls this off, I'll be impressed. It can't be easy to peddle used Canucks.

My dream scenario:

  • Sbisa + Dorsett packaged in a trade
  • Miller dealt for a pick instead of Lack

That is all. Not asking for too much right?

Lack can easily aquire 16th OA IMO if Lehner and a cap dump gets 21st. Maybe me can trade Lack and Sbisa for 16th :naughty:

I honestly just think Uncle Bryan ripped off Nephew Tim.

NFW we come close to that deal for Lack.

Only way I could see it if if it was a package of Lack + Bieksa but Bieksa wanted an extension and I highly doubt Buffalo was willing to give him one.

That and the unlikelihood of Bieksa waiving for Buffalo.

Still think it will be Bieksa + Lack or Markstrom going to SJ.

How could we not beat that Hamilton deal.

I'd offer Virtanen + 23rd in a heartbeat for him.

That's what I'm wondering. Hamilton would've fit this team so good, similar to Vatanen/Theodore. Such a big need for a defenceman like that in this organization.

But, as per Benning's previous work (targeting wrong players), I'm guessing we'll get Lucic instead for Kassian and a couple of prospects/picks.

Not sure if Hamilton's scrum work is up to snuff. Benning may have been turned off by that.

Indeed, fair point.

Looks like we dodged that bullet. Lucic seems to be going to LA. That's good for us.

Still wondering why no Hamilton. Surely Boston would've liked Kassian in that deal (better than just picks).
