Alright, this has me confused.

Kid is 14, from the Czech Republic. No stats yet, guessing he will play U16 in the Czech Republic next year Adam Quick at eliteprospects.com

Now....the kid has
198 000 followers on Facebook Adam Quick
51 000 followers on Instagram Adam Quick (@adamquick13) • Instagram photos and videos
an insane personal website Adam Quick | hokej a box bez frází

So, is this a case of a parent buying social media followers and doing his best to promote the kid? Anyone heard of Adam Quick before? Seen him play?

Definitely weird.

After watching his training videos, he does look good for a 14 y/o but nothing exceptional. Probably just marketing like you said.

It really seems to be very weird.
He has been added to the database of eliteprospects only few days ago and has already more than 16000 views?
But who knows, maybe he is new "Jagr" :)
Guys from Czech or someone who already saw him playing could say something about him. Is he really so good?

His moms IG account (@ petraquick13) is even more confusing and she has nearly 30k. Some kind of model or something but it’s a bit weird. She has a fan page as well so probably a celebrity

Isn't something like this more likely to attract negative attention than positive attention? Unless the kid really does turn out to be good enough - in which case you didn't need to attract attention anyway, the right people would notice via the normal scouting channels. :dunno:

Probably more for marketing purposes than draft stock. Draft scouts don't care about online followers but the guys handing out endorsement deals do.
