Does anyone have a clue to the contract situation for the guys in Abbotsford? Capfriendly will show all the guys signed to NHL deals but lost on the rest . Any ideas? Trying to patch together what the potential team will look like in Abbotsford for next year

Petes Fall 3-0 in the opener to the Knighta ,

They have battled adversity all playoffs long , let’s see how they bounce back on Saturday

Seems like the only guy with neutral to positive approach anymore

I really like Faber. The funny thing is he’s actually not positive about the team’s direction but, as you said, tried to maintain a neutral tone; he reports and analyzes. It’s a nice contrast to most of the other local media.

The biggest factor for me is he cares about the minutia of the team. Early on NCAA free agents. assistant coaches, prospects updates, etc. He’s one of the few people in Vancouver that has a good grasp on our prospects and ranks them appropriately.

As far as I can tell, it's this:

Goalie:
Arturs Silovs
Spencer Martin
Mikita Talapila

Defense:
Jett Woo
Jack Rathbone
Filip Johansson
Cole McWard
Quinn Schmiemann (AHL Deal)

Forward:
Arshdeep Bains
Max Sasson
Aatu Raty
Danila Klimovich
Josh Bloom
Linus Karlsson
Aidan McDonough
Chase Wouters (AHL Deal)
Vincent Arseneau (AHL Deal)

A few Canucks on two-way deals I haven't included here as some of them may stick with the big club (Sheldon Dries, Phil Di Giuseppe, Christian Wolanin, Guillaume Brisebois), and bubble guys who may not make the cut (Jack Studnicka).

I think Josh Bloom is our only current junior prospect who might make the jump to Abbotsford, unless they decide to send him back for an overage season.

Perhaps Faber doesn't care about ginning up people to increase "social engagement", unlike some other local media people.

I made a breakdown of the status of everybody the Canucks have under contract but I don't know about the AHL-only guys.

What about Hirose, Juulsen and Johansson ? I expect Bloom to 100% be there and Lockhart a probable at 60/40 to the good

I have Johansson on that list.

Juulsen is a UFA, so he’d have to be re-signed.

And maybe I’m getting ahead of myself, but I currently have Hirose projected to stick with the big club.

He has Bloom on the list. Lockhart is unsigned and is, in my view and that of many, very unlikely to get a deal.

I’d take any of those 3 in Abby. Miss the Johansson one. Kinda have gut feeling they offer Lockhart an AHL level contract at a minimum

They aren’t going to have all three of Wolanin, Hirose, Brisebois. Gotta pick at least one to live on the farm.

I’d imagine it will be Brisebois if Hirose has a good camp and shows that the level he played at this season is at least his level going forward. I think Wolanin would stick around as the No. 7 guy, as he’d also be a more likely risk to he claimed on waivers.

If Hirose looks like he needs some time in the AHL, then I think both Brisebois and Wolanin stick around.

Do we have the rights to Hirose? I think he signed some weird one year contact

With prospect evaluation, I guess we're all guilty of overestimating guys based on their stats in the league they're playing in.

Klimovich is a good example. Still only 20, if he'd gone back to the QMJHL and scored a ton of goals and assists, we'd likely be rating him far higher on the depth chart.

But because he was one of the youngest players in one of the best pro leagues in the world, and struggled at times, he plummeted down the prospect board.

But obviously you can argue that scoring 17 goals in the AHL; is light years ahead of scoring 45-55 goals in the Q.

They're underway in London, where the Petes, down 1-0 in the series, are up 1-0 in the first.

Is Lockhart the last Canuck prospect standing this post-season? I think so.

Yes he’s the last one standing but at this point as much as I have loved his progression and story this season , I’m 90% certain he is going unsigned and will play an overage OHL season , he has been a non factor these last 9 games and hasn’t contributed at all .

This is me being honest , love the kid , but he simply isn’t producing and has not deserved a contract to play in Abby next season with his playoffs performance

It sucks that this is likely the outcome but we are in a results driven business and Lockhart has not produced at all in the playoffs as of late as Beck and Othmann have carried this team

Well, for what it's worth I've enjoyed your focus on the two OHL guys as the season has wound down.
