Just wanting to say thanks to all who contribute(regardless of good or bad).
Enjoy just reading most the time, to get some hockey talk in my life. Not a lot of people in my environment knowledgeable of or interested in the sport. So this and chiclets is my main hockey injections throughout a day mostly filled with static. Cheers boys, and let’s go pens! Feel free to share any related feelings or otherwise I suppose.

I'll echo my love for HF, obviously. But I have to give mad credit to those before me from tons of prior mods and GDT makers who made this board insanely fun from the dark ages to today. From my years of lurking to my... 80k posts (sad).

What makes the community what it is, is the endless amount of giving from its members.

Lmao I was all about lurking on here for yrs.

I spent the dark ages on letsgopens message board, and gotta give them a shout out to helping me find this site.

But from 2009 when I found this site to 2013 when I actually registered and started to comment, I lurked... I lurked harddddd.

I'm excited to to see where this page goes when our window closes and we go into rebuild mode. The pressure will be off of us to win all the time, and we can just have fun about gathering picks and prospects.

We can also be excited for the draft for once. Especially when Uncle Gary gift wraps us our new shiny superstar lmao. :sarcasm:

Sometimes I wish I still just lurked lol

I was on the official Penguins board during the dark ages....can't remember my S/N...

And used this site to get the real scoops and news when that place was winding down. Being on the opposite coast, it's hard to have a pulse in Pittsburgh and the Pens otherwise.

I lurked on the super old official board for years before I even posted there... and I left that board during the re-design many years ago. Followed the breadcrumb trail here, though this place was common knowledge as a resource for prospects back then... which was the only thing we Penguins fans had to look forward to at the time. People bitch about the place from time to time but HF (well... this section of it, at least) has always been a great resource largely full of affable, knowledgeable individuals. Then there is me.

I feel like Abe Simpson right now.

Been here since 05, so I’m one of the old guys now...though I’m only in my early 30’s, haha. I’ve kind of grown up here, I guess. I was a teen when I started posting.

I think my first posts were about starting MAF and the new arena business....those were some RIDICULOUS times on here, btw. Ball silly and his f***ing blackberry photo....moving to KC, casino money, etc.

Glad this was posted, kinda wanted an opportunity to talk about how much i appreciate this board and its posters. Lurked here since the 08' cup run when my older brother turned me onto this site and the Pensblog. I was 13 at the time, and now im turning 24 soon, its been a wild ride and fun to see the ones who've remained all these years. I could even pick out which ones of you were moderators at one point and even remember some of your older usernames. I don't personally have a presence on this board but i'm chipping in more now that i feel comfortable talking about my own hockey analysis, that and my posts were hella awkward (still kinda are) . Kinda fell of off posting for years because i realized i was young and my hockey analysis couldn't hack it in conversations on this board.

It's a comforting constant to come to this place at any time or place in my life and see the same familiar names an avis and talk/read their analysis

Finally came out of years of lurking an awful loss to the flyers earlier in the season. Its been well worth it, ended up shedding the old kid skyrim nametag and added and RDR theme because its more adult (rightttttt)

@OnMyOwn - From starting MAF and new arena talk to 3 Cups later. Wild ride.

I originally posted on LGP at that time and the time during the new arena talk was strange. I don't think people realize how close we were to losing the team. One week the governor's office and Pens fans were calling left/right demanding a new arena.

My original posts at LGP were when MAF just started and his rebound control was wild as hell. I said he needs to work on his rebound control and a few MAF fan boys from the very beginning were having none of that. I just said "message boards aren't for me" and lurked HF for years. Then I saw my buddy posting because his username was the same as his RMU username.

Couldn't agree more, don't really have people I can talk to about NHL stuff since it's obviously not as popular here and lots of people just focus on the german league or don't really know much about the NHL because they rarely watch. I got so much joy out of reading those boards throughout the years, sharing great memories with the people on here and also have a place to vent when Crosby was centering Gladams. Reading through those boards helped me on a lot of my darker days and so did some of the posters here that are not only amazing to talk to about hockey stuff but other stuff as well! Sadly I'm not as active in the GDT anymore as I was in the past due to watching most of the games the next day, but most of the time they are just as or even more fun than the actual game!

I agree whole heartedly with basically all the sentiments here. I was a viewer for a few years. Then started posting some where around a decade ago. And was a Mod for a brief period. As a whole HF has a great user base, there are the clowns and jackasses like in any community online or not. And even the people that get along bicker from time to time. But as a whole this is a great good place for those of the hockey world.
