3 times I had my guitar cases destroyed while flying and they were stronger cases than the stock Gibson case shown in that article. I also found out that with some airlines, if you use a gig bag(soft case) they will let you carry it on but you need to call and ask first.

The bass player in my old band had his bass destroyed when we flew into Germany, he actually got about $600 more than he paid for it, but it was still inconvenient to be in a foreign country to play and not have a bass.

There is a reason why they make cases that are called flight cases, that is what anyone needs if they are travelling on an airplane with a guitar.

A lot of us need to learn things the hard way:laugh:
