Smith was a guy that I wanted Boston to sign and was thrilled when they did. Things didn't end the way you would have hoped, but Smitty was a class act and a guy that I hope finds his game again in WSH.

I maybe wrong, but wasn't he like a big brother to DeBrusk and helped him when he was struggling?

Great guy. Seemed to be really well liked in the room. His first few seasons here were really great. He lost a step this season but it was never, ever from a lack of trying. He probably skated the hardest on the team every night.
