Seriously though Herman is a huge commodity right now and Texas just snatched him up. He has a good track record at Houston and has the potential to do that now at a school with better resources. He reminds me of Fuente. He turned a mediocre or in Fuente's case an abysmal program into an elite program.

Herman will do well. He has the right attitude to run a major program. If the morons stay out of his way that is.

Apparently he was asking for Saban like control, so I think we gave it to him.

He's smart. Those morons just need to write the checks and let the football personnel do their jobs. He will get talent, he will build a strong staff. Just let him do it his way. Plus this might put Texas in the Stidham sweepstakes.

Feel bad for the Houston players in all of this

You get recruited by a guy who is telling you not to go to the big schools because he's building something special in Houston, and then he leaves and goes to the big school.

It's a big business, and as much as the NCAA will preach its all about it's student athletes, these moves are purely business/money.

That's what you sign up for going to a place like Houston, though. Those high-level mid-majors never hold on to their coaches. It's impressive how they've maintained that level, quite frankly, they're looking for a new coach every 3 years. More important to these kids that they get to play.

Yup. Art Briles, Kevin Sumlin and now Herman. Memphis is another school that it will happen to with Mike Norvell and Justin Fuentes before him.

The right guy to turn the program around, Texas has some nice recruits coming up.

Bonus: he doesn't even have to move his family far :yo:

Derek Warehime joins Herman. Was his OL coach at Houston. Apparently Texas gave Herman blank checks to work with as he's trying to build a superstar. Trying to poach Aranda/Brewster notably.

Perhaps, but it's kinda ****** that players (with the exception of the graduate transfer) need to sit out a year when they go to a different school, but coaches can pretty much jump at will.

But it's all about the student-athletes.

I don't really watch intro press conferences but I can see why Herman is lauded in coaching circles. He has a presence and commands a room.
