The 'literal' part of the out for blood part is what concerns me most. Exceptionally dirty team (VGK Pete's hatchet job of Leon notwithstanding) that will take a toll like the previous two years.

If they want to win this they better not dick around
Just win both home games, and steal one there. I want it over in 5 games type thing.

Agree but Vegas has some nasty guys as well. That is the one disappointing error by Holland. Not getting more grit in 4th line beyond Carrick

Well boys, time to finish these turds off!
And remember, the sooner you finish the series, the more rest before the next round.

Honestly the Oilers won 2 years ago and yet last year it was the Oilers who were the ones who were out for blood (and earned themselves a bunch of penalties for it). LA did not seem interested in repeating all the post-whistle scrums and tackles from the first year.

I was expecting to get Vegas and for that to be a million times worse. You know Drai would've been slashing Pietrangelo and you *know* that the officials would've been waiting for it to happen every time.

Can't read too much into this game, but...

Can anyone say Carrick or Ryan have outplayed Holloway (or anyone) down the stretch here?

Though I don't think the answer is Holloway on the 4th with two defensive specialists. Rather, I think you move McLeod between Janmark and Brown to make a quality defensive line, and you roll Holloway with Foegele/Kane and Perry for a pure energy line.

None of Holloway, Kane, Foegele, or Perry can play C, which will be the thing that keeps one of Ryan or Carrick in the lineup, short of moving RNH or Henrique to 3C and McLeod to 4C.

I think this years version of the Kings is a lot weaker than the last two versions. They lost depth in the PLD trade. Their core is another year older and their goaltending is a mess. Byfield has improved but I don’t think that’s enough to tip the scales. Mclellan being out of the picture now is a wildcard. I always felt his coaching negated whatever his players would be able to accomplish on the ice when it really mattered and that advantage for us is gone now.
I’m still not sure what to expect from our team. The offence was so anemic compared to other years but our defense and goaltending looks better. Here’s to hoping the lacklustre efforts we saw most of the last month were just the players being bored with the regular season and they’ll come out of the gate flying. They were saying it was cup or bust this year. Now’s the time to prove it.

The amount of times this organization mismanaged goaltending is ridiculous. Gotta think there is just something wrong big picture. I would assume our goaltending coach but maybe just Knob is dumb.

Starting Skinner there was pure idiocy. Unbelievable how obviously stupid. I just don't get it.

Unless they really are planning to start Pickard. Which would be even stupider.

Started 2-9-1 and never recovered. :shakehead

In an alternate universe, that is.

Onto the playoffs!
Thank God they overcame the “or bust” part of the season because it was looking like a busted season from game 1 until Knoblauch & Coffey came in.

Kane - Holloway - Perry would get absolutely lit up in terms of goals against. No chance the coaches would ever consider something like that.

This is Holloway's problem though. He's a better player than Carrick and Ryan but there's nowhere to really put him unless you're going to scratch Kane or play him with Janmark and Brown. Neither of those options makes a lot of sense.

Pickard isnt stopping any of those goals. That was AHL level defence or worse.
Ehh I agree but Skinner doesn’t get a complete pass from letting in 4 on 6 shots.

I don’t think anyone was mentally checked in for that game though so I get it. He will be dialled in game 1.
