GDT: Templates & Schedule [First Come First Serve]

We're going to try having a GDT Schedule this season.

- Signup will be in 1 month intervals. Signup for the following month will be posted every 15th day of the month.

- GDTs should be posted the day of the game, between 12:01AM - 11:59AM, the earlier the better. If no GDT is up after noon, it's creation is open to anyone.

- Themes are encouraged, but not required.

- There should be a standard title format that absolutely must have the opponent, the time, and who's broadcasting. Everything else is delicious gravy.

Template: ## | "GDT Title" | Oilers vs. OPPONENT | mm.dd.yy. | TIME | ARENA | BROADCAST
Example: I | "Crescendo" | Oilers vs. Jets | 10.01.13 | 8:00PM | Rexall | CBC

- We talked about keeping records of wins and losses, and also staying with a creator if they are on a winning streak, but we'll see how this goes and implement as this process evolves.

I threw the idea around earlier about making a thread where we can place GDT templates and a checklist for people who don't want to use a template. Hopefully the mods will sticky this for me!

I will try and come up with a checklist for the users that would like to make a GDT but don't want to use a template, so if I miss anything let me know and I'll edit that post.

Other GDT makers, please post your templates here as well.

The opponent in this GDT was NYI so I had DarkOrange as their color. This usually gets changed to a color that represents the opponent. I also added an extra space between each field set so it is easier to fill out the template. Once you get it filled out, you can delete that extra space.

I could. I figured as long as this thread stays open the GDT's can be quoted and the info can then be copy/pasted.

We can do templates, unless there's a change in opinion we're not doing any sort of formal schedule.

By no schedule, I mean there won't be any commonplace reservations for GDT's.

Very infrequently, for special occasions, and by moderator consent only - reservations may be made.

Thanks, not that I'm against schedules - it would actually be preferable to me because I wouldn't have to stay up and worry about timing a GDT post.

But the board voted on it about two years ago (I think) and there was a solid majority against a schedule. If there is enough lobbying though, we may have to hold another vote.

As long as the time restrictions for posting GDT's remain constant. I usually like to do one regular season 'Nucks game GDT/ year. Last year I pre-prepared a GDT but somebody else posted one much earlier and a lot of my work never got posted.

I had constructed a very informational straight ahead GDT, very much like the one that posted earlier, so it was pointless to add much of my material. I think we sticky this thread and remove the comments that aren't accompanied with examples of some, clever scripting, which shows (effectively demonstrates) how the respective tags work and can enhance all our threads. Remembering of course not to overtax the site.

Most times, less is more. Too many videos just gobble-up bandwidth and eat-up database space.

:laugh: oh I know who Templates is playing tonight, don't you worry. Templates is taking on the posters of HF Oil.

Rin, this thread looks great and I would like to see this stickied. Of the busier/more popular teams on HF, we seem to have the fewest sticked threads. This one would be used fairly regularily. Also, I am so embarassed to admit that I never thought of using the quote function to copy formats... sheesh! :help:
