It's going to be REAL hard to argue that there isn't a double standard, irrespective of the national TV reasons.

As long as the Sixers get into the playoffs, this can be beneficial.
If they don't get crowds back, not much of a home court advantage, so playoff positioning is less important.

Forcing Maxey to play 40 minutes (and probably a few more games like this) will accelerate his development, and it looks like the Sixers may have the steal of the draft if he gets comfortable shooting "3s" (his FT rate suggests he may become an elite shooter). He already has the moves to be a top penetrator, and he's willing to play defense.

Reed also got a taste that will help him in the G-league, raw but this team needs a defender who can matchup against bigger SFs and athletic PFs off the bench. That may be a year away, but it would be a nice bonus. Same with Joe.

Bradley got some serious PT and showed at the least he can rebound.

Unfortunately Milton and Thybelle couldn't take advantage of the opportunity to get some extra PT.

Having a second unit that can wreck havoc off the bench will allow Rivers to load manage his starters down the stretch, so I'd be happy to sacrifice a couple wins in the first part of the season if it gets Maxey, Milton, Thybelle and Bradley ready to contribute. Korkmaz is a question mark, when he returns, he'll be a month behind. Howard and Scott are old men, they need young legs around them.
