Bourque/Lapierre/Zary or one of the Germans

Definitely some talent left here.

Three concussions? Sure, take Lapierre in the 2nd or 3rd round, maybe.

This is false, after the third one they went to specialists and found his spine was messed up (similar to Crosby, Brady, etc.), when he fixed his vertebrae/spine his headaches went away and he has been healthy ever since.

At 19 overall I take the risk in a top 5 talent guy.

Didn't he only play like 20 games this past season.
You might get a better scouting report from team physicians.

Is that so? I hadn't heard that. I hope you're right. And I'd be happy to get Hendrix if that's the case.

Drafting "the rock" would be nice :) But honestly speaking, I have no freaking clue who makes the most sense to draft. Everyone has their pros and cons.

I’m a fan of Holloway. We need some size in our forward group. Plus I know his family and he’s a Calgary kid. So I’m a bit biased.

I want no part, absolutely no part, of Holloway. Screams Hunter Smith, shouts it from the top of buildings in fact. There are a dozen guys who actually put up decent numbers and people (a lot of CP as well) want to draft this big boy who is Calgarian.

If we're going to draft big players who can't put up points, do it in the 5th round and beyond. Can we use our high picks on some guys who can put the puck in the net please.

When I was reading up on (since I saw he was highly touted but many concussions) him I saw a profile on him that talked about his health issues and the conclusion they came to about his vertebrae being completely out of alignment. When they fixed his spine his headaches went away and he has been healthy ever since. Crosby has been fine since they fixed his spine and figured it wasn't concussions.

I hope we falls to us.

Was late to the party on this, but I'd pick Bourque if that's how the draft went. We need a play making center to counteract Monahan's scoring ability.

Hunter Smith was an overager and had an advantage against the competition. Holloway is far from a comparable to Smith. If we want to compete in the playoffs they need to add skilled players with size and a physical game. If we had more players like Tkachuk we wouldn’t have a problem competing in the playoffs. Holloway is a skilled physical player. Maybe not to the extent of Chucky, but he’s what we need.

Yup. Can't assume that every single draftee that's big and doesn't have 500 points is good just because of their size and dominating people. That's where you fall into the hole where you draft no small guys because someone didn't do good, or you draft only small guys because Gaudreau

Smith was also a 20 year old playing against teenagers which does come into play in the juniors. Holloway isn’t in the same position. You don’t have to like Holloway or any other prospect with size. But when someone doesn’t want to draft him just because another player busted thats completely nonsensical. Fans make the worst GM’s. I like his skill and his size and we lack prospects in the system that have his attributes so he makes a lot of sense. Also I may add I’m not against drafting small skilled players. But not all of them are going to develop into Johnny Gaudreau either. There is risks with taking them as well. I just think we need a variety of prospects that bring different things to the table.

I say Hunter Smith because he never put up big offensive numbers and Holloway has never put up big numbers either if we want to use the "big body" example. Holloway isn't even a big body, he's 6'1 200 lbs, he's an average sized guy. If there are guys like Lapierre/Bourque/Zary on the board it'd be silly to choose a guy like Holloway because he is an inch or two taller with no where near the skill.

Look at who just won the Cup, carried by smaller skilled players. Point, Kucherov, Gourde, Palat, Coleman were there top 5 scorers, Cirelli and Johnson right after. Palat is the only one at 6 feet, the rest are under 6 feet.

Size is meaningless in today's league, it's all about skill. Flames don't need big bodies, they need good hockey players. If Holloway is a better hockey player going forward that's fair.

And Tkachuk was horrendous and a complete no show in the playoffs and has been for 3 years now, he's my favourite Flame, but the dude is completely anti-clutch come playoff time, I don't understand why. Dube was one of the better Flames and he is a prototypical Lightning forward player, undersized, skilled with speed. You don't need size to win games, you need good hockey players to win games.
