Dean and Morrow are the next two on my list and I'd be beyond thrilled to have either one of them.

Let me share why I'm voting Dean.

First read this scouting report that compares him favorably to pre-draft Sebastian Aho.

Then just watch:

11/18/20:

3/6/21:

3/21/21:

Dean has great tools, and reads the play quickly at both ends. He's not a huge scorer in junior but the way he scores should see him translate well to the NHL level. Just about all of his qualities suggest to me a highly projectable player.

-Essentially seconding major & Double-Shift here. Went Dean - would be excited by Morrow as well.

I was between Pastujov and Robertsson here. Although I would be okay with Morrow here as well. I like the upside of all three and if we went with McTavish with the first pick, we go a little safe and a then little risky with this second pick.

LOL hopefully Dean is there. Would
Dean/Morrow have been more likely? I assumed Morrow/Dean because I think there is a little buzz on Morrow.

It's impossible to know. It could be that both are available at #31, or perhaps neither are available at #24.

Agreed. The scouting will have even less consensus than normal. And I don't think it ever has as much as fans assume it does, because the draft content we consume often borrows from itself. All it takes is one organization to value a kid 10-20 spots above consensus.

I think a lot of the names I was hoping for went off the board by 24. Usually I can snag another good name or two very high on my list on draftsim… but there are definitely more than 6 more good players in the board here, so 30/31 should still be another good option.

DSL, when you make a pick and everyone says who?? and they scramble to figure out who the player is: 1) Probably could have waited on the pick 2) If you find yourself later saying - we heard he was high someone else's list, you probably should have waited on the pick. If the drafting success was just blowing us away this would be a non issue right? I'm a Jarmo and Ville fan, but they need to hit the next 4 drafts out of the friggin park.

You can’t ‘wait’ on a pick unless you have all the picks. There’s always the trade down but that requires a partner and a willingness to lose your guy in between. If you want a guy and your scouting says he’s the guy then you take the guy.

Maybe you’re the poster that advocated trading down one pick at a time in some scenario a week or so ago. If so, then I suppose I get your reasoning here but that’s not a realistic situation.

I am, and I would do that every chance possible. When you take a guy in the first that is projected to go in the late 2 early third it screams I know something that others don't. So far the results don't support that. Blue Jacket picks have produced below average under Jarmo. We all want the same thing here - ultimately the only we get a winner here in Central Ohio is to draft that team.
