Honestly, this nearly makes up for last night. Nobody saw those wins, nobody

Almost resigned myself to finishing 9th in the conference with Vrbata and Hamhuis still on the roster....and the $6m man still in goal....some people will still blame the owner, but surely even the Aquaman can figure out this is the NHL equivalent of the Twilight Zone.

Really surprised MTL managed to beat WAS in regulation and that moves them 5 pts up on us tied with PHI.I think we're pretty much a lock to be in the top 8 now. :yo:

Hopefully Torts can help us tank one more time and CLB passes us soon. That would set us up for 6th OA,depending on the lottery.

Too bad BUF couldn't score one lousy goal and get even a single point but at least ANA winning and SJ getting a point completely buries us in the Pacific.Absolutely zero hope of getting into the playoffs that way.

Ten points back of Colorado. Eleven back of Nashville. 12 back of San Jose. Those are our options if this team is indeed a "playoff contender". A reasonable man will conclude that playoffs are not an option this year, but we have the brain trust of Benning, Linden, and Weisbrod manning our ship. Besides, we just have to win those four games in hand and now we're... still not in the playoffs. When has this team been able to string together more than three wins in a row this season?

23 games to go... Here's hoping we draft a good pick.

Does anyone possibly think we're going to have 6 more wins than Colorado/SJS/NSH in 23 games? Even if all of them go .500 we'd have to win like 18 damn games.

3.8% odds right now. We don't even get a *chance* (read, 1 scenario of getting WC Wildcard 2) unless we're 13-9-1 and I highly doubt we can pull that off.

Ideal situation for today:

Flames vs. Islanders - CGY win
Jets vs. Stars - WPG win
Blue Jackets vs. Devils - CBJ win
Coyotes vs. Florida - AZ win

And most importantly,

Canucks vs. Senators OTT win

Of course, Edmonton, Toronto, Minnesota and Nashville winning would be nice as well. Needless to say, it is another huge day for #TeamTank.

More like huge day for "save our picks to stop Jimbo from going nuts with spending them".

Good day for us yesterday. Really needed it after a horrendous day the one before.

Thursday's tank games:

- MIN @ PHI (need MIN win)

- NJD @ CBJ (need CBJ win)

- CAR @ TOR (need TOR win)

- ARI @ FLA (need ARI win)

- WPG @ DAL (need WPG win)

- NYI @ CAL (need CAL win)

- OTT @ VAN (need OTT win, in regulation)

- EDM @ LAK (need EDM win)

Teams like ARI, WPG, CGY, WPG and TOR are just as bad if not worse than us. The chances of us falling below them are going to be slim.

Haha shootout win for colorado. Benning is probably sitting there going "wahhh things never go right for me!!!!". Moron probably thinks we still stand a chance even after tonight.

Maybe reality will sink in before the trade deadline for Benning and company.

Trading Hammer and Vrbata gives us soem assets and also gives us a chance to look at some younger guys, although we don't really have younger Dmen deserving of NHL time at this stage.

season has been pretty much wasted.

we play San Jose 5 more times and Edmonton 3 more, Calgary, Arizona and Winnipeg only 1 more time.

no doubt this team will do just enough and not get any lottery luck.

curse of Dale Tallon lives on.

So terrified that even if they admit they are sellers they are going to target multiple mediocre assets in return for Hamhuis/Vrbata and not lesser numbers of premium assets. I also think there is a good chance they come out of deadline day with less picks (or downgraded picks) in 2016 and 2017 then they went in with.

Yeah, based on Benning's quote about not wanting picks and wanting to do "hockey trades" at the deadline, I suspect if guys are moved that the main assets returned will be players in their early to mid 20s and maybe a later pick thrown in for Hamhuis.

Yeah that seems to be the way it's going...guess nobody told them the importance of RFA's and ELC's in this CBA. Hopefully, HOPEFULLY he doesn't trade our first

unfortunate you aren't aware your team needs 3 top 5 picks to ever think of winning a championship, as our enlightened fan base will tell you

Ottawa? Nah they probably don't need to. See they've already got this elite talent that they drafted 5 spots after we drafted ol' Cody "stump legs" Hodgson. They also have a GM who fleeced a former top 3 pick out of Arizona and a former top 2 out of Anaheim for peanuts.

See when teams have competent scouting and GMing they don't necessarily need to go to the shallow end of the pool where all the "special needs" teams need to go to make sure they draft some actual talent rather than defensemen who can't defend and culture carriers who are selfish *******s.

TL;DR Our GM needs several top 5 picks to overcome his severe limitations as a GM. Other teams may not have the same handicap as us.

Farhan saying the Hawks have major interest in Hamhuis and Vrbata.

Doesn't surprise me at all. The Hawks don't need top tier assets for a push towards another cup. Definitely wouldn't mind making a deal with them (anyone really) for good value (prolly won't happen).

The Hawks 1st rounder is basically a 2nd. Benning will see that as a win since he likely couldnt get more than that from anyone else. Linden setting the value by saying its a buyer's market doesn't exactly help. Morons.

Well they should target someone like Schmaltz but the horrendous age gap problem will likely turn them to a guy like McNeill as he is a few years "ahead" in development. Also known as not good enough to push his way onto an NHL roster.
