The Zetterberg Era
Ball Hockey Sucks
Not against Semin, but not sure why we wouldn't make them eat the salary difference between the two. Weiss showed a lot more with his minutes last year than Semin did.
Weiss would have been the top scorer on the Leafs in points per ice time.
It isn't going the way we hoped, but offensively he actually isn't quite as bad as people make him out to be, especially when he actually plays with some talent.
Interestingly the guy that seemed to do best with Pulkkinen was Weiss. I wonder what Blashill's plans are with him.
I would still trade him for Semin, but the Wings don't like Semin so it would be a remarkable shift from them to entertain this. Datsyuk also made no push for him the first time around when he was a more attractive asset, so the Dats will babysit him logic doesn't seem to hold.
Still he is an incredible talent, and he actually plays two way hockey. The Canes struggled mightily E. Staal, Jordan Staal, Skinner, Semin and Tlusty were all bad. Even Faulk was bad for their first half. They actually played decent hockey as a team in the middle stretch of the season but completely ko'd themselves in the opening month. It would be an interesting experiment and certainly a big risk to bring him in but I wouldn't kill a Weiss for Semin swap, it would be a bold move in my opinion.
