I wonder if the NHL timed the release of this news. I think its pretty obvious thats it not but today might be the slowest sports day of the year. No other sports save for baseball are going and evne baseball is on hiatus. So Sydney Crosbys extention has grabbed some decent pub while the NHL would usually not get any during the off season. This way Syd got some actual talk on ESPN radio and sporting websites.
Getting back to the deal itself. I think Crosby is to be admired here. He is allowing his team to sign players by taking a pay cut. Crosby could have gotten 10 million a year if he wanted but opted for this deal that gave him less.
