After watching it a few more times I think Coleman saw Zacha and Vatanen and thought they'd win the puck battle and he was looking to go on the attack rather than thinking about covering the late guy. Hudon just made an unexpected play and that's all it took.
Yeah, more than anything it's a great play by Hudon. Although Vatanen should have been able to strip him of the puck. Seems more like Sami was looking to try and lazily chip it up to Coleman. Anyway, Sami had a solid game outside of the end and Coleman is probably more to blame than him, but it truly is an excellent effort by Hudon more than anything.
