I'm not sure Hanzel is shutting down centers right now or teams are mailing it in vs one of the League's worst teams for years now. There is no team worried about matching up against a Coyote center, Hanzel or not.

Stone (50% retained) to Calgary for a 2017 3rd rounder and a conditional 2018 5th rounder, if he re-signs with Calgary.

Not an incredible return - holds that value of roughly a late 2nd round pick, which is a little below expectations. I was hoping for at least a 2nd, and maybe a late pick or lower level prospect.

Awful return.

Did his value plummet this year? I imagine the conditional 5th is if he resigns, or they get into the playoffs. Hope this isn't Chyaka apologizing for offending Burke. smh

His value plummeted when he broke his leg last year.

Not surprised. He's been okay this year and he has a slightly high salary cap. A 3rd is EXACTLY what I expected for him.

Hopefully this means we see Tony D coming up soon.

Ehh to the return but he's played like crap coming off the knee injury.

It's too bad he couldn't play like last season.

Let's get DeAngelo or Wood in there now.

Hanzel is a decent 2nd line center, nothing more. Every team in the League has one, some are smaller but just as effective and chip in more offence as well. He is severely overrated by Coyote's fans. I would sign him if he was willing to be paid at that level and would sign him right away if he wants more.
I disagree. Other coaches know how good Hanzal is.

I thought we could get more, but evidently not. Stone is a secone pairing at best, but probably better suited for 3rd pairing, same as Murphy.

For retaining 50% I would've liked a 2nd. Or at least a better conditional pick if he resigns, a 5th is nothing.

This means we have two more retention spots. Safe to say Hanzal gets one, but it comes down to Doan and Vrbata.

I don't think Doan is getting traded.

According to McKenzie, it's not done yet.
If it stays like that, somebody has to get fired. Whoever it was, gtfo...

I was hoping for two picks (multiple seconds) but was resigned to the likelihood that it was going to be later picks due to his play this year. A third is meh. Not holding my breath on that 5th.

Was hoping for a 2nd, but this is a fair return. Stone hasn't been the same since his surgery and his advanced stats are crap, even relative to the team. He's certainly not shooting as well as he used to anymore either.

DeAngelo has as many points as Stone this year in 25 fewer games. Also beats him goals, 3 to 1.

Given the circumstances of DeAngelo getting sent down though, I think they might be accelerating Wood's promotion. The way Tucson is playing lately this might be a good thing.

Looks like for now we get KConn + Chychrun though as I haven't seen a call up yet on the usual sources.
