From STL
Allen
Steen
Schwartz

STL retains no contract money

From COL
Ottawas 1st round pick
No way Colorado gives up that lottery pick with those kind of assets being offered up, and the Blues won't be giving up their best winger after Tarasenko.

Why would Colorado do this?

Allen is literally useless to them, they already have Varlamov and Grubauer and I'd imagine they're content with what they've got.

Steen and Schwartz are good second liners but are expensive, something the Avs probably can't take on right now.

Also, why would they help the Blues rebuild that much faster?

You're severely underrating Schwartz. Other than that, spot on tho.

If we're gunna get crazy, how about:

to STL:
OTT 1st + COL 1st + Kerfoot + any two non-Makar prospects we have...though I'd prefer to keep Kaut since we have so few RS forwards, but he wouldn't be a deal breaker...and a conditional 2020 1st that drops to a 2nd if we don't make it past the WCF

to COL:
Tarasenko + Schenn/ROR

Apparently there is no salary cap in crazytown.

I think Schenn would make the most sense in a trade between these two teams. Could be a good fit for both clubs, not for the Ottawa 1st obviously, but Colorado has a lot of good future pieces. Colorado 2019 1st, Timmins, Kaut, Bowers, Jost, secondary guys like Kerfoot/Kamenev, the Avs could definitely put together a good package.

Thus why I included Kerfoot :sarcasm:

But we've been through this before, there would still be enough cap room to keep everyone we'd want to keep as long as we could let Varly walk & roll with Grubauer / Francouz in net.
Could Zadorov be available in a deal for Schenn?

I'm terrified that the FO might view Zads as more expendable than some of us do, but I really doubt Joe would send him anywhere where we'd have to play him more than twice a season. He likes hit & score goal, and we sure as s*** don't want him doing either to us...especially not with a chip on his shoulder over getting traded away

Plus our blueline depth is on right, not the left. After Girard & Zadorov the only LHDs we have worth a damn are Ian Cole and Patrick Nemeth, both of whom are ideally 3rd pairing PK-specialists...though Cole has been very solid when deputizing in the top 4. In the pipeline we have nothing on the left other than a long-term project we drafted late last year who probably won't ever amount to much.

Ha ha. It sounds like you don't like the idea of facing Zadorov on a divisional rival any more than we like the idea of facing Schenn. I completely hear you.

Trying to understand the logic involving the AVs absorbing approx. $15M p.a. in long-term salary commitments for underperforming players to help with Cap problems. For doing so, trade the Sens 1st-round pick which is likely a Top 10 (more likely Top 5).

This is beyond stupid. Tarasenko is exactly the RW player the AVs need. Another consideration is Parayko - RHD which opens possibilities on another trade on moving their DMen.

Not very often do teams in the same division make trades with players that have term. At least thats what my memory is telling me, not any good offers here that is fair enough for both side to consider anyway. I would love to get Ottawa's pick though lol

With his rapidly growing highlight reel of massive hits, I don't know that anyone really likes the idea of facing Zadorov.
